My Quick Cowl Crochet Pattern

Thick and Warm!

L Poulson
I wanted a quick and thick cowl that would both keep me warm but work up nicely and quickly as i wanted to use it right away. This one worked up in under 3 hours for me, and im a pretty slow crocheter.

29 inches around at tight end, 31 inches around at loose end.
Materials
Lions brand wool ease chunky -
k hook
Button small enough to slip between the stitches but large enough to hold your cowl. I used a 1.5 inch button

CH- Chain
HDC- Half double crochet
DC Double Crochet

chain 90 Join do not twist chain
R1 Ch 2 DC across 90 <- this will be the row where you can add your drawstring later on.
R2 Ch 1 HDC around
R3- Ch1 HDC around
R4- Ch2 2 DC in first stitch, DC around half way 44 DC, in 45 stitch put two DC, dc around
C5 Ch2 2 DC in first stitch, DC around to where the increase was, 2 DC there, DC around
R6 Ch1 put 2 HDC in first stitch, DC around to increase, 2 HDC in increase, HDC around
R7 Ch1 HDC around No increase
Alternate rows of HDC and DC to length.

When you are finished you will have a large and thick ring that will keep your neck warm.
To make it slightly more decorative, i sewed on a button where i could fold the cowl over and button it under my chin, so it would be tight to my neck, but loose around my shoulders. It made it easy to tuck the edges in under my jacket and let the neck part keep me warm from the wind.
