My Reaction to the Dancing with the Stars Season 6 Star Lineup Announcement

Andi Hunt
Season 6 of Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) star lineup was announced by ABC. I must say that after hearing the stars that were chosen for this upcoming season, I will be watching starting March 17th. I have to confess that I haven not watched the entire competition for any season, except for last season. I usually would catch the end of each season once they were down to the top 4. However, I am excited to watch Season 6 from beginning to end after hearing the stars who will be competing in this season's competition.

If you haven't heard, below is a list of the star contestants and their professional dance partners for this season.

Marlee Martin, who is an Oscar winning Best Actress for her performance in Children of a Lesser God, and her partner is Fabian Sanchez, who is a new addition to this year's professional dancer lineup. Marlee will be one of the reasons that I am so excited about tuning in to see this season. With her disability of being partially deaf in both ears, I find it fascinating that she will be performing on this show. I feel the producers made the right move by having her on this season's cast, because it will get viewers to watch each week like myself and it shows everyone that you can do whatever you put your mind to no matter what type of handicap or disability that you may have. She definitely will be one of my favorites to watch.

Priscilla Presley, who is the widow of Elvis Presley and also 63 years of age, will be partnered up with Louis van Amstel. Priscilla will be another star that I will be tuning in to see perform. First of all, she does even look close to her actual age. And secondly, it will be interesting to see her personality during her performances on the show, because she has always seemed like a private person to me. I will also be tuning in to see if she picked up any of Elvis's dance moves. I have a feeling she will be a great performer. I can definitely see her staying around until the end.

Shannon Elizabeth, an actress/model known for her role from American Pie and Love Actually, will be paired up with Derek Hough. This will be a great couple to watch. Derek has always been a great teacher and brings out the best in all of his partners from the past. Shannon definitely has natural beauty that will only help her for the show, but I hope she will be able to pick up the moves, because if not, America will have no problem voting her out like they have done each year with all of the other models that have been on the show.

Steve Guttenberg, an actor who starred in Police Academy and Three Men and a Baby, will be dancing with Anna Trebunskaya. I have always been a fan of Steve's from all the movies he has played in. I will be interested to see if he brings his humor to this competition. I will definitely be supporting him throughout the show even if he can't dance.

Mario, a R&B platinum recording artist and one of the youngest stars on this season show at the young age of 21, will be paired up with Karina Smirnoff. I am certainly a Mario fan from when he first came out on the music scene back in 2000. He has grown up in the public eye and has always remained professional and stayed out of trouble unlike some other stars his age. I can see Mario having an advantage since he is used to being on stage and performing live in front of thousands of people. However, dancing the salsa and ballroom is completely different from doing a R&B style of dance, so I will be looking forward to see what he can do. He will also be another one that I will be rooting for in this season.

Marissa Jaret Winokur, a Tony award winning singer/actress for her performance in Hairspray, will be dancing with Tony Dovolani. Marissa is a very talented performer, and I can definitely see her putting on a show this season. She is another favorite of mine. Hopefully, her fans will watch and support her throughout the show.

Jason Taylor, this year's NFL Defensive Player of the Year with the Miami Dolphins, will be paired up with Edyta Sliwinska. I will be interested in seeing if Jason will be quick and light on his feet. I am not sure how many of his fans will be watching, but if he has a good fan base, he maybe able to sneak into the top 5. He may surprise all of us like Emmitt Smith did in Season 5 and win the entire competition. If he has enough charisma and great dance moves, I am sure he will wow the public and will be staying around until the end.

Penn Gillette, known for being one-half of the famous illusionist team of Penn & Teller, will be dancing with Kym Johnson. I have to admit that I have never heard of Penn until after looking up his bio. If he has enough personality and can pick up the dances, I am sure America will keep him around.

Cristian de la Fuente, an actor on the show CSI Miami, will be paired up with Cheryl Burke. Cristian will definitely be great eye candy for the ladies, and Cheryl is be a great complement for him. Cheryl is such a great teacher and competitor that I can these two giving everyone else a run for their money. Everyone should watch out for this combination.

Monica Seles, a professional tennis champion, will be dancing along with Johnathan Roberts. I am definitely a huge fan of Monica. I watched her throughout her tennis career and know that she is a fierce competitor. I can see her working hard to be the best she can be in this challenge. I am looking forward to what she will bring to this season's competition.

Kristi Yamaguchi, an Olympic gold medalist figure skater, will be teamed up with Mark Ballas. Kristi is another top competitor in her profession, and I can see her bringing her A game to this competition. I am sure she will bring her grace and beauty to the stage each time she performs. She is another favorite of mine.

Last but not least, Adam Carolla, a radio-jock comedian known for hosting The Man Show, will be partnered with Julianne Hough. It will be interesting to see what Adam will bring to the competition. Also, I find this to be an interesting pairing. Hopefully, Julianne will be able to work Adam's humor into their performances. I feel like that will help him a lot, especially if he is not a great dancer. He is another reason I am watching this season.

As you can see, this season's show is packed with known celebrities. I am so excited about seeing what everyone will bring to the competition. This is definitely a season that you don't want to miss. The first show for Season 6 will air on March 17 at 8 p.m. on ABC with a two-night premiere.
