My Review of Alice in Wonderland for Wii as a Player

Dina Pezzimenti
If you are like me, you probably aren't the first one to run out and grab the new 'movie' game, but I thought I would give this one a chance. I'm a fan of Tim Burton and I thought if they could get some of his imagination into gameplay then I would be pretty happy with it. I actually found Alice in Wonderland for Wii pretty interesting and unique for this type of game. The rating is "E" 10+ and has mild fantasy violence.

I got Alice in Wonderland without any knowledge of it, really, and I assumed I would be playing 'Alice', but instead she is present as your personal cheerleader. You also have to save Alice a few times from the guards, etc. You actually end up playing the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, and the Dormouse. You toggle between the players to get through puzzles and levels. Each of the players has a special talent that you will need to use to progress. Of course, there's Tim Burton's famous sinister twist to the character and levels which I personally enjoyed immensely.

If you haven't seen the movie, the game starts with Alice as a teenager who returns to Wonderland and reunites with all of her childhood friends - the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, and the Dormouse. The White Rabbit assumes the job as narrator. Alice, once again, falls down the rabbit hole and finds herself in "Underland". She eats a special pie and drinks a potion which makes her small enough to fit through the tiny door again to begin her second adventure. The Red Queen has changed a lot in Underland and it's your job, as the "Underland Underground Resistance" to change it back. The ultimate goal is to defeat the Red Queen and Jaberwocky.

The game itself is just... well, pretty. It is visually interesting and beautiful which makes it all the more fun to play. The graphics are not anything amazing, but very good. Alice in Wonderland is not too difficult so if you are looking for a very challenging game, this is probably not it. I beat it with moderate difficulty in most parts. It isn't that original, but I would say it is definitely different from other games in some aspects and worth your time. I hope this review has helped in some way and I hope you have fun playing Alice in Wonderland for Wii.
