My Review of Dragonball: Evolution

Shadeezy
This article will be all about the unfortunate accident that is now known as Dragon ball: Evolution. I recently saw the movie in the theater's and I can honestly tell you that I was not the only Dragon ball fan that was disappointed with how the movie was portrayed. Every single Dragon ball fan in that theater with me was booing it about one quarter of the way into the movie.

It was a most excellent movie, in fact, the best that they have ever come out with......if you have NEVER seen an episode of Dragon ball or Dragon ball Z in your entire life. After about fifteen minutes into the movie is when about half the viewers started to walk out of the theater. I myself thought about walking out as well, but stayed for the sole purpose of writing this review with all the information I could possibly gather. Yes, I stayed for you, my dear fans, and underwent several hours of grueling torture, just so I can make sure that it doesn't happen to anyone else who reads this.

The movie itself, as far as special effects goes, wasn't that bad. What made it really bad was the fact that the storyline went nowhere even close to the actual storyline of Dragon ball or Dragon ball Z. The characters were all portrayed poorly and by actors who seem to have just passed their acting classes. There were only two who actually caught my attention, and they were Bulma and Master Roshi. Master Roshi was played by the same man who played as the Monk in "Bulletproof Monk", while I'm not really sure where else the woman who played as Bulma has acted before. The only reason Bulma caught my attention, in all honesty, is because she is absolutely gorgeous, but even Bulma was not portrayed as she was in the anime series.

Another thing that made it horrible in my eyes, besides the poor acting and bad storyline, was the fact that none of the characters looked anything like what they do in the anime series. Yamcha has blonde hair and acts like a surfer, Bulma looks and acts more like the Tomb Raider with a single blue streak in her hair, Piccolo was played by the same actor that played Spike in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and looked more like Frieza, Master Roshi looked nothing at all like he does in the anime series ( he didn't even wear his favorite shades like he always does in the anime), and Goku was played by a Caucasian fellow who couldn't look or act anywhere close to the way Goku does even if his life depended on it.

Needless to say, not only was the movie Dragon ball: Evolution the worst portrayment I have ever seen, it also bombed big time in the box office. To put it bluntly, they spent like ten million dollars on the stupid movie, and will be looking forward to making less than a third of it coming back there way, depending on how well the DVD sells when it comes out. All in all, I would not recommend this movie to anyone who has seen the anime series and to anyone who has, you have my sympathies.
