My Secret Love

Quickpaws
The man I love is always close,
Yet, oh so far away.
He's blinded to the passion
Stirring in me night and day,
And how I ache to hold him tight
And be loved in return,
To light his fire in the night...
A glowing, white-hot burn.

A gentle touch his velvet hands
May bring to those around him,
Yet, when he smiles he doesn't see
The angels that surround him.

They cannot help but linger
Near this tender-hearted man,
And as a moth to wild flame,
I draw close when I can.

I know not if he yet perceives
The fire in my eyes.
The truth is swiftly hidden
'Neath my cloak of needful lies.

I do not know his feelings.
Do they mirror those of mine?
Do they speak of deep respect,
And burning love divine?

I hasten to the throne of grace
Each night when moonbeams rise,
And pray that I may one day see
Love shining in his eyes.

Until that day, a friendly hug
Is all my arms can feel.
Will my passion be returned?
My Jesus will reveal.
