My Sleeping Beauty

Harold Dean Sink

"Shhh, birds. Please be quiet.
My sleeping beauty is still not up.
Please frogs, stop croaking
She needs her rest."
The night was short,
And she is very tired.
I hope all the critters
Will not come around
For her to bother.
My sleeping beauty has not yet awoke.
I'll sneek out for some food.
Maybe I can be back before she wakes.
I wonder if she likes pancakes?
I dare not call for room service.
The smallest sound might wake her.
She looks so peaceful laying over there.
And what a beauty with that long brown hair.
Boy how lucky I am to have met her.
I hope she'll stay asleep just a little longer.
Now I am back with some food
For my sleeping beauty to awake to.
Her short breathing is like a water wake.
"Wake up my sleeping beauty.
There is food here."
"Why thank you my love.
You are such a dear."

I don't write as much as I used to, but I do find it as a way to put my thoughts on paper or on the computer.  View profile
