My Smart Car

Mario V. Farina

Smart Car, how smart you are,
more than any other car!
You came to me with a Ph.D.
for serving and for pleasing me.

On sunny days, you flip your top.
On icy days, you safely stop.
You take me where I need to go,
sometimes fast and sometimes slow.

There's one fine seat beside my own
for the girl who shares my home.
There's a space behind for food and things,
be they skis or be they wings.

When on my way, you know the route.
When there's a need you softly toot.
When parking, there's no pain or strain
whether there is sun or rain.

These days I find it really cool
you're attending graduate school.
You're learning how to bring me lunch
when I forget but want to munch.

And also, when I've parked too far,
You'll come to me from where you are.
Smart Car, how smart you'll be!
more than any other car we'll ever see.
