My Snack-aholic Diet Plan

Kate F
Hello, my name is Kate, and I am a snack-aholic. I love to munch, and drink soda, and grab something sweet. My waistline does not particularly care for this, though, so I did a little research and set up a plan for myself to at least try and stop the gratuitous snacking. Here is my plan:

Breakfast - Cereal OR oatmeal OR waffles (no more than twice a week) and orange juice

Snack (if needed) - Fruit and water

Lunch - Any regular lunch meal and water

Snack - Bowl of cereal OR three cookies OR baggie of chips and soda

Supper - Real meal and water and/or chocolate milk

Snack - Same as afternoon and water and/or hot chocolate

*Soda once a day, only

Fast food once a week, only

Water is the first important tenet to my plan. If I am feelings like I need to consume something, for instance when I am at the table feeding my daughter, I first get a glass of water. It serves to help quench feelings of physical hunger, and occupy my mind from the psychological desire for food.

Grapes and fruit are also good choices because they are good for you so you can eat plenty, as long as you do not have a sugar problem. Also, if you are like and do not care much for fresh fruit, it puts a curb on the craving if you know that fruit is all you can have.

Cereals, especially healthier cereals made of whole grains, are great for filling you up without a lot of unhealthy additives. For a little sugar, I go with Frosted Mini Wheats - tasty, filling, and with whole wheat that is good for my body.

Assigned portions is the other important facet of my plan. Having three cookies allows me the satisfaction, without the guilt and fat of eating ten. Putting chips in a baggie and allowing myself to eat that much at a time keeps me from eating half the bag without realizing it. Also, keeping myself to one helping of soda a day, and one fast food meal a week, helps me keep some accountability over my two major weaknesses.

These are just a few of my own ideas that I cam up with to help me curb my snacking. I am not an expert or anything, but I can see the effects on my waistline, and know that whatever is affecting my waistline is probably also affecting my heart, and that is something I want to avoid just as much as those few extra pounds.
