My Son is Graduating High School in May 2011

I can't believe the time has finally arrived. My son, Josh is graduating high school on May 27, 2011. It has been a long journey, and I look forward to watching him walk across the stage and receive his diploma.

I have mixed feelings during this time. I am so proud of Josh and I know he is moving on to bigger and better things, however, as a mother, I'm not ready for him to leave the nest just yet. I know, I have to let him go out into the world and experience life and learn the ropes of supporting himself and his little girl, (Josh is the father of a precious 14 month old) which makes me a very proud grandmother!

Josh has been talking about joining the Marine Corps after high school, but I think those plans have changed. He now wants to find a job after he graduates and then attend college in the near future and study Animal Science. He is currently in FFA, (Future Farmers of America) and he just recently returned from a convention trip in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. It was in this class that he discovered he wanted to study Animal Science and I feel he will succeed in his studies and make a great career out of the skills and knowledge he has learned while in the FFA.

I am extremely excited to sit in the stands and watch my son receive his high school diploma. I feel he has done a wonderful job throughout his high school years and it has finally become time for him to say goodbye to walking the halls from class to class and start out fresh and enter the world of employment and experience all the ups and downs of life.

I have no doubt that Josh will work hard and provide for his family. He has held summer jobs throughout school and is always talking about getting a job and having a great career. Josh is a strong willed person and I know I will not have to worry about him when it comes time for him to move away from home. My only hope as a mother is, that he doesn't move far!

Josh played football for his high school all four years. I remember him telling me a few weeks after his last game of the season that he missed the field. He wanted to put on his uniform and get ready for another game, but as a senior, his high school football games are over. He has a few friends that are juniors in high school that are on the football team and I know he wishes he could join them in practice just to be on the field again. But his high school days are soon over and I know he will do great things in the future.

As a mother I tried my very best to raise him right and teach him right from wrong and I truly feel he has the skills and knowledge to enter the world on his own and do the right things. As he graduates this year and puts his high school years behind him, I am still going to be there for him and offer my advice if needed to help guide him into the new journey his is about to take.
