My Space for Newbies

Where Do I Start?

RSS
My Space has become a place for not only the young but the old as well. Many older people are now using the site to connect with high school friends, college friends, coworkers, relatives...you name it.

Teenagers often spend hours adding new pictures, changing their profile, changing their layout, adding and deleting content with ease. They can show you where to get new layouts, a scrolling marquee and hide your comment box. For those who don't have their very own teenager and who don't know how to use HTML it can be overwhelming to try to make these changes on your own.

First, you'll need to get an account.

Step 1: Go to:
http://www.MySpace.com
Click Sign Up.

Step 2: Fill out the Registration form:
You will need a valid email address
(If you don't have one, go to Yahoo and get one).

Step 3: Share your photo.
Upload a photo from your computer or Skip This Step.

Step 4: Invite Friends to your Space.
Add their email addresses or Skip This Step.

Step 5: You are now at your Profile page. This is a page only you can see. This is your working page where you will receive emails, invites, add pictures, and edit your profile. Click on your Profile button. You will see how you're My Space page actually looks. Click Home (left top corner) and go back to your profile.

Step 6: Pick your URL (you will see this box towards the top left hand). Pick something you like because you can never change it.

Step 7: Verify your email address. (You can't send messages, post comments, post bulletins or add friends until you verify your email!)

You now have a My Space. Ready to dress it up? Then go next to My Space for Newbie's: Changing Layouts.

I often welcome change and the experience it brings. I try to start each day anew by remembering whose child I am and where it is I am going on this journey. Life is such a grand adventure!  View profile
