My Stay at the RainTree Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI
The RainTree Resort is Located in the Heart of the Famous Resort Town of Wisconsin Dells!
The hotel accommodations are priced very reasonably considering the amount of competition there is. Many resorts in the Dells area that had waterparks cost over $200 for a single weekend night. The RainTree resorts double queen suite was about $130 which included full use of the resort facilities.
The RainTree resorts water facilites are OK. They do have both and inside and outside waterpark, which is very nice. The inside waterpark is fairly large with two swirling tube slides, and various smaller straight slides. There are many water cannons and splash areas. There is a log rolling activity area as well as a lily pad course with rope vines over head. The water was a perfect temperature and there were a few spots where the little kids could play without too much commotion. There was a very large hot tub inside that was located conveniently so that you could still see your children playing. There are also ample chairs and lounges to lay on.
The outdoor waterpark was a little small, but it was still fun. There wasn't a very good spot for little kids as there were activities everywhere. The zero entry spot didn't serve much of a purpose as there was water geysers shooting up that many small children are afraid of anyway. There was a small side where a slide splashed into that the little children could splash around, they just had to be careful to watch out for older kids coming down the slide.
The location of the RainTree resort is excellent. The only bad thing is that along the strip there are very few stop lights, so it is nearly impossible to cross the street if you are walking, and very difficult to make a left turn onto the drag. There are several restaurants near by, and Noah's Ark is just across the street. It was very easy to find and the large sign makes it easy to enter the correct driveway.
The room was fairly nice. The table and seating area was fairly large, although there were only two chairs. There was a mini-fridge and microwave which is a great thing to have! A blow dryer, coffee maker and iron are also in the room. It would be nice if all hotel rooms had a dust buster so you could vacuum up small messes, especially if you are traveling with young children. The beds were fairly comfortable.
The cleanliness of the room was lacking a little; you could see crumbs in corners and behind dressers and such. The microwave also had many fingerprints on it, so you could be sure it wasn't thoroughly cleaned for a while.
The staff was all very friendly. The lifeguards enforced the rules, but didn't seem too fit or ready for an emergency. The lobby personal was very helpful and the hotel seemed to be very well maintained.
There was also a large video arcade room. This was a great place to take the kids and allow them to release a little extra energy outside of the waterpark areas. Many games were there, some new ones and some of the great old ones. Pool and air hockery were also available.
Breakfast was served in the morning from 8:30 until 11:00. In my opinion this is a little late for breakfast as many people want to get up early and eat and hit the attractions. It is also a little bit late if you have young children who wake up early. We found ourselves waiting for breakfast with anxious children.
Overall, I would stay at the RainTree resort. Even though it may not have been the best resort in the Dells, the price was right, and it met my expectations. The RainTree resort is a great place to take your family if you are looking for a short vacation and a place to entertain the kids. It is a smaller resort, so the crowds are less, and that is always a luxury to me!
