My Stock Picks for 2007

Ideas for Investing in the Coming Year

Brenda Keener
Now is the time to pick stocks for the coming year, and I am going out on a limb by putting mine out publically - where everyone will be able to measure my success or lack thereof at the end of the year.

Nevertheless, the New Year inspires bravery!

My picks for 2007 that I will be buying or adding to my position in, are:

1) Toll Brothers - TOL Recent reporting by the management of this company indicates that orders are off by 40%. But everwhere I look, I see Toll Brothers residential developments going up (they are a large residential construction company). Their traditional market has been high end, given the condo developments I see in Silicon Valley, I would bet they are in the middle of a shift in market direction. The bad press has driven the stock price down, it is currently trading at 31.44 . Looking at their results over the last five years, this is low! TOL is a long term play, but given their cash position and team, I am betting on them to come back. They are a bargain right now.

2) Atheros - ATHR This Silicon Valley chipmaker has innovated a WiFi chip that can work with any host controller. What that means is that Asian handheld device makers can add WiFi without changing their overall microprocessor platform. Look for these guys to score big in 2007!

3) Cytokinetics - CYTK Biotech is HOT, and this company has pioneered small molecule drugs that target the cytoskeleton. This means that they have the potential to get to the root of tumors, and many types of cancer. This is another long term play, but affordable at $8 and change per share.

4) Bare Escentuals - BARE Peter Lynch of One Up On Wall Street fame told us to pay attention to what new trends are coming up, and invest in them. This new mineral based makeup really does make a difference, and women are wild about it. I have a whole portfolio of it myself. This is a buy and watch carefully move, as trends pass quickly.

5) Nutrisystem - NTRI Women are always going to be trying to lose weight, and perhaps this is why Nutrisystems posted earnings of $23.5M for the quarter ending September 30th 2006 - more than three times its earnings for the same quarter in 2005. Dan Marino is their pitchman in an effort to build more men into the customer base.

These are my recommendations for now - look for more in the year to come.
