My Thoughts on God

Rita Jan
God is thought of as many different things by many different people. Some view Him as a dominant, angry force which reeks havoc on any who disobey Him. Some view Him as a jolly old man wearing a toga and listening to harp music. Some think that He's a passive observer who is only semi-interested in what happens to mankind.

I myself think of God as Someone Who is very wild. To me, God creates brilliant thunderstorms, knowing that I will see them, and He watches them with me. To me, He holds me safe and warm each night while I am sleeping. In my mind, God is a Warrior of ultimate power Who defends the weak and helpless.

God whips me into line. When I am disrespectful of one of His children, He is certainly not passive then! He demands respect and honor and uplifting words out of my mouth, and when I do not give those to Him or others, I am shown how destructive that is. He tirelessly trains me in habits and thought patterns which are the most beneficial to my life. To this day, my self-developed habits are not nearly as useful or as embedded as my God-given habits.

I tell a joke and He laughs. He frequently laughs at me, especially when I am worrying about something. As if He would not take care of me! And He does, every time. God provides me with wonderful, delicious feasts to eat, beautiful homes to live in, and wild, honest, intelligent people to befriend. He is the ultimate Gatekeeper, Guardian and Husband. I love Him so very much.

I do not mind if someone does not believe in God. It is not my responsibility to talk them into believing that. God does not force Himself on others, and neither should I. I realize that, even though answering questions is a great way to show God to others, the biggest influence I can wield is by living a righteous life. People are watching.

God is not some passive thing in my eyes. He reads books with me, He encourages me while I'm cooking in the kitchen, we go to the post office together, and He demands time with me if I'm not spending enough time with Him. This is, by far, the best relationship I have ever been in.
