My Top 10 Choices of Family Oriented Halloween Movies

Brandy A.
My family loves to watch Halloween based movies all month long in October. We gradually decorate our home throughout the month and watch one Halloween movie a night. This keeps us in the spirit, and excited all through October. Sure trick or treating is only one night and lasts a few hours, but who says you can't celebrate a fun holiday all month long?

Because it's family based movies, I've made two lists. One is my top 5 picks for watching with children, and the other is my top 5 scary movies. So this guide will actually benefit everyone, no matter what they like.

Top 5 Children's Halloween Movies.

1. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. The well known Peanuts gang are getting ready for Halloween to come. While Charlie Brown is at a Halloween party, Snoopy is off fighting the Red Baron, and poor Linus is out waiting to catch the Great Pumpkin in action. Full of classic Peanuts fun and enjoyable to watch.

2. The Worst Witch. Mildred really is the worst witch, being clumsy and unfortunate, nothing seems to go right for her. Even the other children tease her at the witch academy she attends. Oh not for long though, when she finds out the evil witch plans to destroy the school, it's up to Mildred to save them all. But will she be able to before the Grand Wizard arrives for the Halloween party?

3. Halloweentown. Dark forces are stirring in Halloweentown, Marnie and her friends must stop it. But how... They have to find all the missing ingredients that are needed to restore Merlin's wand. After all, it's the only weapon to fight against this evil. Some unexpected complications arise on their adventure, and when they finally get to the point where they think they've won... Fate throws them a curve ball.

4. Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie. Pooh and all his friend go trick or treating in the 100-Acre Wood. For Lumpy, it's his first time, and he's real excited to get started. That is, until Tigger tells them about the Gobloon lurking about. It turns into a real ghost hunt when Tigger tells them if you find the Gobloon before he finds you, one of your wishes will come true.

5. Casper. Still a classic, and a well known name, Casper is the friendliest ghost in all the movies. But his not so pleasant uncles are the complete opposite. Trying to keep their mansion from "Fleshies" like Kat and her father, they try everything they can to drive them away. While Kat and Casper become best friends, but her father is trying to get the ghosts to cross over. And that's not all that's happening, Carrigan discovers a treasure map, that happens to be buried in Kat's mansion. So she uses the family for her own benefit, taking everyone on a ghostly adventure full of trick and laughter.

My top 5 scary movies to watch during Halloween.

1. Nightmare on Elm Street. Freddy is the face of everyone's nightmares. Stalking people's dreams is all he is able to do, but it's enough to get payback on the group of teens that caused his death.
