Home Alone - Very funny movie starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. Macaulay ends up getting left at home while the family rushes off to catch a plane for Christmas. Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are burglars that show up and break into the home. Macaulay takes them on a wild ride of traps he sets up throughout the house causing them the fall, slip and get things like paint spilled on them. I love Daniel Stern he was hilarious in this movie with his reactions and comments.
The Grinch Who Stole Christmas - Jim Carrey was awesome as the Grinch in this movie. I love Jim Carrey in just about all of his movies. He is one of my favorite actors. The actor's costumes and makeup were done very well. The little girl that plays Cindy Lou Who was just adorable. The basic outline is the Grinch gets picked on as a child because he looks different than the other kids. After being made fun of he gets upset and runs away and lives his life in solitude hating Christmas and everyone. His trickery and interaction with the people of Whoville throughout the movie are great.
Deck The Halls - This movie is pretty funny. Basically Danny Devito and Matthew Broderick are neighbors. They spend most of the movie battling to see which one can make their house so bright with any kind of lights to be seen from space. Lots of tricks being played back and forth between them to sabotage each others display.
Ernest Saves Christmas - Ok who doesn't love Ernest? I grew up on the Ernest movies so I love them. This time he is a taxi driver and ends up picking up Santa Claus that has gone to Orlando to find someone to take over his job. Santa was feeling down and had no magic left for another Christmas. Ernest teams up with an orphan and together they save Christmas in the crazy Ernest antics way.
Elf - This was a cute funny movie. Will Farrell plays an orphan that accidentally crawls into Santa's bag one year and gets taken back to the North Pole. The elves take him in a raise him there as an elf at the North Pole. After he is grown up they tell him he was not an elf but a normal person. He embarks on a quest to New York to find his real Dad. Along the way dressed as an elf and goes crazy over anything Christmas he sees in the city. When he finds his (Dad James Caan) he's a publishing executive ends up not wanting anything to do with Buddy (Will Farrell). Buddy moves in with his family and begins to try and teach them a thing or two about being a family. Buddy uses his skills he learned from being an elf to help save Christmas and give Santa hope that the Christmas spirit still lives.
Christmas with The Kranks - Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis are great in this movie. They decide this year to skip Christmas and go on a vacation. They hide the fact from their neighbors because Christmas is a big deal in their community with decorating contests and just being together. The neighborhood finds out their daughter is coming home from college and end up do whatever then can to force the Kranks to stay and have Christmas for her.
Jingle All The Way - This is a classic funny Christmas shopping movie. Anything will and can happen when you're last minute shopping for a gift.. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays and overworked Dad who has little time for his family. He tells his son he can have anything he wants for Christmas. When Christmas Eve arrives he discovers he didn't buy his son the turbo man doll he wanted. Unfortunately this is the hottest toy at the time so he spends most of his time in a shopping frenzy trying desperately to find one. There's a crazy postal worker (Sinbad) every step of the way that ends up being his competition to find one of these dolls. Any parent out there that has ever gone on the search for that specific toy for their child will definitely relate to this movie.
Scrooged - This is the classic scrooge movie will a comedic Bill Murray twist. He plays an uptight TV network president who hates Christmas and everyone firing people at will. They are putting on this over vamped Christmas production and he ends up being visited by the three Christmas ghosts to try and change his ways and it works. Pretty funny for an older movie.
A Christmas Story - This is a cute and funny movie. It's from the viewpoint of a nine year old little boy. All he wants for Christmas is a bb gun. He try's his hardest to convince his family he will be safe with it. They tell him no he'll shoot out his eye. He makes a trip to the local store to see the Santa there and tells him what he wants. Santa tells him the same thing. This movie is full of school yard bullying and dares like when his friend gets his tongue stuck to the frozen flagpole.
