This is a cartoon, but in almost every episode there is usually three musical numbers. These can't really be described as simple songs because they aren't. Many of them, especially when Dr. Doofenshmirtz is singing, become full Broadway productions with dancing girls and jazz hands. If you have never seen this show, then I really recommend giving it a try. There is a full Wikipedia page on Phineas and Ferb and it is absolutely hilarious. This show is great for any age. My daughter is almost two and it rivals Winnie the Pooh for TV time. Our family has seen almost every episode and waited six months for the CD to be released. Many of the songs on my list are from the CD. There are, at the time of this article, 97 episodes and 69 total songs. That could change any time because they are still releasing new episodes every week.
I have spoken with my family and we have picked the following songs, in order, for our top ten favorites. There were also a few that deserved to be on the list, but since it can only be ten, look below for our honorable mentions. Click on the song title for a link to watch the video on Youtube or the episode name for a link to Wikipedia for that episode (if available).
#10- "One Little Scare Ought To Do You Some Good", from their Halloween episode "One Good Scare Ought To Do It!,Season 1, Episode 33. Phineas is determined to scare the hiccups right out of Isabella. He recruits all his neighborhood friends to bring their scariest fears to their newly built haunted house in their backyard. This is a great Halloween song. Very catchy! It will, like the rest of the list, get stuck in your head for hours!!!
#9- "Ain't Got Rhythm", from the double length episode "Dude, We're Getting The Band Back Together!", Season 1, Episode 21. Lawrence, Phineas and Ferb's dad, forgot his wedding anniversary to Linda (their mom) and is in the doghouse. Phineas and Ferb are determined to help by bringing their parent's favorite band back together for a reunion concert in their front yard. This song is when Phineas and Ferb track down Sherman, the drummer, at his new job as the local librarian. My husband loves this song.
#8- "You Snuck Your Way Right Into My Heart", is from the same episode as #9. This is when the whole band is back together and Lawrence and Donna finally get to celebrate their anniversary in front of the whole neighborhood. This song is a hair band ballad straight out of the 80's. I turn up the volume every time!
#7-"Phinedroids and Ferbots", from "I, Brobot", Season 1, Episode 8. Phineas and Ferb decide that they have too many projects and not enough summer to build them all, so they make robots of themselves to do the projects for them! Well, things do not go as planned and the robots drink way too much coffee and try to corner Phineas and Ferb! It is a hilarious episode and a must see. Every time this song comes on, either on TV or in the car with our CD, my son does 'the robot' dance. This is his favorite!
#6- "My Goody-Two-Shoes Brother", from "Tree To Get Ready", Season 1, Episode 22, deals with Dr. Doofenshmirtz's younger brother being elected as mayor of Danville. Dr. Doofenshmirtz does not like his brother, the favorite of their Mother, and wants to cover him in "a ton of pigeon goo." He brainwashes pigeons to walk on a tightrope over the swearing in ceremony and they are supposed to... well, drop their goo on him. Things don't go as planned and Dr. Doofenshmirtz gets gooed instead! This is a Broadway musical type song that will stick in your head and have you waving jazz hands as it ends. It is a great song! You actually want to start doing the high leg kicks, too!
#5- "Gitchee, Gitchee, Goo", from "Flop Starz", Season 1, Episode 3. This is where
Linda, their mom, teaches them what a One Hit Wonder is. (Her song "I'm LynnDonna and I Wanna Have Fun" was a one hit wonder back in the 80's, so she knows what she is talking about.) The boys write their meaningless lyrics and embark on a one city tour with the one song. In the episode, the song is short, but on the CD it is the extended version and is worth turning it up! This is yet another song that will get stuck in your head.
#4- "Today's Gonna Be a Great Day", the title song from the TV show. It is sung by the band Bowling For Soup. It is a great way to teach kids that every day can be a great day, no matter what you do, and you should have fun everyday!
#3-"Disco Miniature Golfing Queen", from "Put That Putter Away" Season 1, Episode 31. Candace is too sick with a summer cold, to bust her brothers, so she enlists the help of her best friend Stacy. Phineas and Ferb are disappointed because they want to play mini golf, but the only one in town is closed. They enlist their friends and make a mini golf course in their backyard and Stacy gets too involved playing and having fun to bust Phineas and Ferb. My daughter loves to wear hats and this song, especially in the episode, is her. Stacy is dancing around, in golf gear, on a light up dance floor, to the song that is definitely ABBA influenced. This is an awesome song and must be turned up and danced to. My two year old daughter even dances to it!
#2- "Busted", from "I Scream, You Scream", Season 1, Episode 15. Both Candace and Vanessa (Dr. Doof's 16 year old daughter) sing this one. Candace is trying to bust her brothers and Vanessa is trying to bust her dad and prove to her mom that he is truly evil! It is a great song and I love to get the kids up and dance to it.
#1- "Backyard Beach", from "Lawn Gnome Beach Party Of Terror ", Season 1, Episode 2. This might be early on it the production of Phineas and Ferb, but it is still my favorite song. It is a hot summer day and the boys make a beach in their backyard. Heck, who doesn't want a full beach in their backyard on a hot day? Usually it is Phineas or any of the other characters that sing the songs, and it is rare that Ferb even speaks, but he sings this one! It is a very short song but the beat is great and it just pumps you full of energy. I love this song and play it over and over in the car!
Now here are the honorable mentions. Same as above, click the song title to go to YouTube and see the video from Disney Channel.
