My Top 10 List of Easter Candy

Sally Albright
I have a sweet tooth. Not just your ordinary sweet tooth but a massive one. I absolutely love the holidays because I get to buy candy which is specific to that particular holiday. Easter is just one of those holidays where I find myself drooling over the candy selection at my local grocery store. With Easter just around the corner I have decided to make my top ten list of Easter candy and hope that you, the reader, will chime in with your top picks as well.

10. Peeps

Who can resist those cute little marshmallow Peeps? As a lover of all things marshmallow it's not surpising to find Peeps on my top ten list of Easter candy. In fact, I feel that an Easter basket isn't complete without a row of yellow marshmallow chicks.

9. Robin Eggs

I love malted chocolate balls such as the Whopper on occasion. One of those occasions just happens to be Easter when Robin Eggs fill the grocery store shelves. I can remember fondly as a child grabbing a Robin Egg from my bag, licking it, and then applying the wet coating to my lips as lipstick. It is because of this fond memory that Robin Eggs have made their way on my top ten list of Easter candy.

8. Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs

Peanut butter and chocolate has to be one of the tastiest combinations that exists. Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs are simply the traditional peanut butter cup transformed just for Easter.

7. Pastel M&M's

M&M's are great. Because of their small size they make it easy to control just how much you eat. The combination of soft chocolate and a hard candy shell make them one of the best candies of all time. On Easter you will find many a candy bowl filled with little pastel colored M&M's. Maybe it's just me but their pastel color seem to make them more appetizing.

6. Chocolate Easter Eggs

While they are quite plain and maybe even ordinary the chocolate Easter egg is a delicious treat worthy of my top 10 list. Wrapped in pastel colored foil the chocolate Easter egg is like an M&M without the shell. The chocolate is creamy and delicious and can easily cure a bad case of the sweet tooth.

5. Hershey's Miniatures Easter Candy Bars

Hershey's Miniatures are popular in my house. Buying a bag of Miniatures lets everyone in the house have just what they want. With the Crackle, Mr. Goodbar, Milk Chocolate, and Dark Chocolate candy bars there is a variety to choose from. These candy bars are delicious anytime of year and Easter is of no exception.

4. Chocolate Bunny Lollipops

A recent trip to my local drugstore ended up with my purchase of a Chocolate Bunny Lollipop. Lollipops are always fun to eat, especially for kids, and the chocolate bunny lollipop is one of the best. While it may be ordinary chocolate on a stick it is one of the most perfect Easter candies available.

3. Jelly Belly Jelly Beans

What would Easter be without a jelly bean or two? Jelly Belly is perhaps one of the best makers of the jelly bean and offers such fun flavors as buttered popcorn and Strawberry Banana. Although I can honestly say that the store brand and little known brands of jelly beans sometimes can't be beat Jelly Belly wins out in the end.

2. Cadbury Creme Eggs

One of my most favorite of Easter treats as a child was the Cadbury Creme Egg. I can still remember the commercials where the bunny would cluck like a chicken. The deliciously sweet center makes this candy both unique and a popular choice for Easter baskets.

1. Chocolate Easter Bunny

No Easter basket would ever truly be happy without the addition of a chocolate Easter bunny. While most chocolate Easter bunnies today are hollow my favorites have always been the solid milk chocolate bunnies. As a child I always wanted to eat the ears first. Afterall, Easter just isn't Easter without a bunny who loses its ears.

I'm hooked on Russell Stover's crispy bunnies. It is kind of like a Nestle's Crackle only 10 times better. I wait all year for Easter to come around just for those darn bunnies. But I absolutely LOVE them!
