My Top 10 Picks of the NFL 2010 Draft

This is my opinion of how the NFL draft needs to unfold on April 22, 2010, so that each team benefits the most.

Pick #1 - St. Louis Rams - DT (Nebraska) - Ndamukong Suh

With the first pick in the draft the St. Louis Rams need to take Suh. It is the smart thing to do. The Ram's need more pressure coming from their defensive line, and who better to do that than Ndamukong Suh? Suh is the most dominate person in the draft and it is a no brainer that he should be the first pick. We all remember how Reggie Bush was a lock for the first pick overall in the 2006 draft, but the Houston Texans chose Mario Williams instead. In my opinion, Williams ended up being a better pick, but not by great leaps and bounds.

Pick #2 - Detroit Lions - RB (Clemson) - CJ Spiller

Sammy Morris is not a bad running back, but he is getting up in age and a young future star running back would not be a bad idea. CJ Spiller can give the Lions a running game that can will open up all new doors for Calvin Johnson to catch passes through. This might be a few picks early for CJ spiller, but the Lions need a new, young running back. They maybe should trade down a few picks and get some more in return to work on their atrocious offensive line.

Pick #3 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - OT (Oklahoma St.) - Russell Okung

The Buccaneers decided to get their future quarterback last year and since he showed a little promise, it is now time for them to take out a small insurance policy on their new QB. That is why I say the Buccaneers need to work on their offensive line by drafting Russell Okung out of Oklahoma State. Okung will be able to give slightly noticeable help in his first season, but by his second or third year, there will be no doubting his was a smart pick.

Pick #4 - Washington Redskins - QB (Oklahoma) - Sam Bradford
I was not big on the Redskins picking Sam Bradford in the 2010 draft until they decided to pack up Jason Campbell and bring in Donovan Mcnabb. Mcnabb will give the Redskins an immediate boost at the quarterback position, but not for too long. That is what will make Sam Bradford the smart pick for the Redskins. Bradford will be able to sit out a year while he learns the system and does any more healing or resting needed.

Pick #5 - Kansas City Chiefs - OT (Rutgers) - Anthony Davis
The Kansas City Chiefs showed a lot of promise last year on the offensive side of the ball. The biggest problem I saw was the offensive line. Over the course of the season, I saw Matt Cassel having to constantly evade defenders and still find an opportunity to complete a pass. This problem could be on its way to being solved with the pick of OT Anthony Davis. Davis' skill at the tackle position would give Cassel a lot the protection he needs to lead the Chief's to more victories next season.

Pick #6 - Seattle Seahawks - DT (Oklahoma) Gerald McCoy
For the Seahawks, at pick number nine, I have DT Gerald McCoy from Oklahoma. The Seahawks need improving on the defensive front and McCoy gives them a definite boost. McCoy's strength and size make him a man that offensive linemen have to keep an extra eye on, which opens up more lanes for Lofa Tatupu to reek additional havoc on opposing quarterbacks.

Pick #7 - Cleveland Browns - QB (Notre Dame) - Jimmy Clausen
We all know that the Cleveland Browns have had troubles with Notre Dame quarterbacks in previous years, but they have also had problems at the quarterback position in general. Jimmy Clausen would be a sound pick to lead the Browns into the future. Clausen has the ability to find a man down field, but his accuracy still needs work. Jake Delhomme can take over the position for now while Clausen gets use to the system and works on his accuracy.

Pick #8 - Oakland Raiders - S (Tennessee) - Eric Berry

Could you imagine a defensive backfield that had Nnamdi Asomugha and Eric Berry in it? Neither can I, but I believe it should happen. It is true that the Oakland offense needs work, but it would be better for them to sure up the defense a little more first. There are always quarterbacks and offensive linemen in the draft, but how often do you come across a player like Eric Berry? Berry would sure up a defensive backfield and open the lane for offensive improvement in the near future.

Pick #9 - Buffalo Bills - OT (Oklahoma) - Trent Williams

When the ninth pick in the draft comes around to the Buffalo Bills, I believe they will use it to take OT Trent Williams. Williams is very athletic, he put up the second best 40-time for a lineman and the highest vertical jump. His strength and quickness will allow him to open up big holes for Maurice Jones-Drew to run through and give David Garrard good protection on the outside.

Pick #10 - Jacksonville Jaguars - WR (Notre Dame) - Golden Tate

I am sure this looks crazy to you that I have Golden Tate going ahead of Dez Bryant, but the reason I am doing this is because it is looking like more baggage comes with Bryant than an NFL team would want. This opens up the gates for Golden Tate to go to Jacksonville at number ten. Tate has great hands and can make big catches down field that proves he deserves the pick.
