I will not buy it just because it is on clearance. Seventy five percent off racks are my favorite places to shop. Unfortuneatly, this has resulted in a rainbow assortment of sherbert colored cardigans, seven or eight black jersey dresses, and one completely unwalkable pair of hot pink platform pumps. None of these items work for work... but hey I got them for a song. I will not, however, start buying things because they are expensive... I just want good quality, great style, for a reasonable price... who doesn't. I recently "discovered" www.ideeli.com for designer deals, and rediscovered Marshall's and TJ Max for good quality (not weird) apparel for less.
I will invest in an organized closet. Due to my obsession with savings, I have a lot of clothes (so really, I don't think I actually saved that much). The shoes are in a pile, and the clothes are crammed into my tiny closet. My work clothes are in the living room, so they do not get mixed up in the mess. I am ready to have a closet that will hold my new fashionable finds. While I will not reach the fabulousness that is SJP's closet in the movie "Sex and the City", or the royal wardrobe found in "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" (yes, I have closet envy), I will have a closet that holds everything and that I can actually find what I am looking for in. I am passionately in love with the Container Store.... where I plan to indulge in a few organizers, and will definitey be spending some major time at Bed Bath & Beyond.
I will leave the house fully dressed. Don't worry I have not been flashing the neighbors, but I never leave the house completely ready. While I usually have all the elements of my oufit with me, they are in pieces. My pumps are in the trunk of my car, makeup in my purse, jewelry in my coat pocket, and the tell tale wet hair of a failed fashionista. I unfortuneatly have to admit that my favorite thing about my car is the hair dryer/heater which nearly dries all my hair in a half hour commute. Well, no more. I will leave the house with hair done, makeup on, fully dressed, and gasp earrings in my ears. Hopefully this will keep me from being nominated for my two favorite shows.
So, some of us have to start simple.
Here's to a Fashionable New Year!
