My Top 5 Episodes of Ice Road Truckers Season One

Ice Road Truckers is a reality series that is broadcasted on The History Channel. This show premiered on June 17, 2007 and is now moving into it's third season. Ice Road Truckers gives you a look at real life people who have the dangerous job of driving over frozen lakes in Canada delivering vital supplies to various locations. The show has been a big hit and ratings have skyrocketed since first premiering.

Season One consists of six truck drivers, Hugh Rowland, Rick Yemm, Alex Debogorski, Jay Westgard, T.J. Tilcox, and Drew Sherwood. The first episode of season one is my all time favorite. It was title "Ready to Roll" and was an essential to Ice Road Trucker fans since it introduced the drivers as well as what their job was. This episode was a thrill to watch since T.J. had to make his first ice road run in white out conditions, which makes it very hard for drivers to see.

Number two on my top five list would be the episode "The Big Chill". It first aired on July 8, 2007. I found this to be one of my favorites because it shows a fuel tanker that flips over at the start of an icy road. This caused a hazard not only because of traffic being blocked, but the fuel could have spilled into the river.

My third favorite show was "Midseason Mayhem" and the title says it all. It premiered on July 15, 2007. This episode was the conclusion to the tanker truck that flipped in the episode "The Big Chill". Todd was also banned from the ice road after he was caught speeding on the ice road. Reckless speeding had already led to tires being blown on the ice road.

My fourth favorite was titled "The Big Melt", which premiered on August 12, 2007. This episode was so enjoyable to watch but also very suspensful. Spring is coming and the ice is starting to melt on the lakes, therefore the truckers are in a hurry to have their loads delivered or else, they will end up in water.

Lastly, "The Final Run", which was also the last episode of the season, was another of my favorites. The show premiered on August 19, 2007. It was even more suspenseful than the rest when Hugh gets involved in an accident. He is sideswiped by another truck and the ammonium nitrate he's delivering spills on the ice road. The ammonium nitrate makes the ice melt faster and the crew has to hurry to clean it up before guess what? He falls in the water!
