My Top 5 Favorite Mel Gibson Films

I love Mel's work, but these top the others

Braveheart- Not only is this my favorite Mel Gibson movie, it is also one of my top 10 favorite films ever. This movie has a runtime of close to 3 hours, and we all know that if a movie is that long it has to be able to keep your attention and have an intriguing story. 'Braveheart' does both to perfection. From start to finish I was hooked. 'Braveheart' ran me through the wheel of emotions. I was laughing one minute, sad the next, and swearing in anger the next. This is one of the best movies ever made, so if you haven't seen it, now is the time. But let me warn you, there is a great amount of blood and gore in this film. If you aren't into that, you will need to turn you head very often.

Conspiracy Theory- When you take two phenomenal actors like Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts, you really can't go wrong. Julia and Mel's chemistry in this movie was great, I loved every minute of it. This movie also has the legend Patrick Stewart in it, and his role is downright disturbing to say the least. This movie has just the right mixture of suspense, action, and creepiness to keep you on the edge of your seat begging for more.

What Women Want- Mel's role in 'What Women Want' is different from what we are used to seeing him play. But being the great actor that he is, he plays the role to perfection. You can't have a great movie if the stars don't have chemistry, well that's exactly what Mel and Helen Hunt had in this one. Their interactions were laugh out loud. The only moments funnier were the ones between Mel and his 15 year-old daughter (played by Ashley Johnson).

Ransom- Mel's performance in this film is unforgettable. Mel plays a self-made airline mogul whose son (played by Brawley Nolte, son of actor Nick Nolte) is abducted. And if you've seen any of Mel's movies, you know he does the intense drama filled scenes better than most of the actors in the biz. This movie will pull at your heart strings and keep you fired up all the way to the end.

Signs- After 'The Sixth Sense' this is my 2nd favorite M. Night Shyamalan movie. There are only 2 types of films that scare me; movies about ghosts and movies about aliens. While 'Signs' didn't scare me at the time I watched it in theaters, when I watched it at home every little noise in the house bothered me. I'm not really a fan of Joaquin Phoenix, but his role in 'Signs' really did fit him.

Great picks. Conspiracy Theory is the only one I'm a little unsure of. It's been awhile since I watched it. The rest are all great movies.
