My Top 5 Personal Fashion New Year's Resolutions for After Baby

A new year is around the corner and I have some big plans for fashion this year. One reason for my personal fashion New Year's resolutions is that I am having a baby sometime around Christmas. It's been many months of maternity wear and a body that I'm not so used to and I am super excited to get back into "real" clothes and try out some new fashions.

Here are my top five personal fashion resolutions and how I plan to reach them:

Attain a healthy goal weight- Maintaining healthy weight gain and activity levels during my pregnancy means I won't have a lot of weight to lose after baby. However, I'm not going to buy a bunch of new clothes until I'm certain I'm at a healthy after-baby goal weight. I plan to purchase one favorite "goal weight" outfit to use as inspiration to help me attain the healthy goal weight I need after baby is born.

Clean out my closet of old clothes- A new year and a new baby mean it's time for this mom to toss the old faded clothes and the worn jeans. It's time to give my closet a makeover, beginning with dumping the stuff I will never wear again. I will reuse or recycle what I can and offer the rest up for clothing donation. Clothes that are too old to be worn again can be used for cleaning rags, craft projects and other creative ideas.

Get some new running shoes/gear- One thing that I have not been able to do the late months of pregnancy is run. I love running; it keeps me in shape, releases stress and makes me feel good. However, I'm going to need some new running shoes because mine are old and worn. Running clothing that fits me well and that looks good makes me excited to run and to get the regular, daily exercise I need to be healthy and look great in the rest of my clothes.

More grown up garb- I am a petite woman and throughout my 20s, I have dressed myself from the Juniors' department. Now that I am nearing 30 and have a few kids, I want a look that is more mature but that doesn't look like it came out of my grandma's closet. Another goal that I have is to fill some of my wardrobe with more mature, "grown up" pieces that don't look like a borrowed them from my daughter.

Versatility pieces- A final fashion resolution that I have is to invest in versatility pieces. I don't want to spend a lot of money on great clothes and I'd like to get the most out of the clothing I purchase so I will be hunting specifically for pieces that can be mixed and matched and that have various functions. For example, can I wear it to church and to a work meeting? More versatility means I get more use from my investment and can still look great, no matter what I'm doing.
