My Top 5 Sports Predictions for 2010

I thought about doing a predictions list for 2009, but I couldn't narrow it down to something I could actually put down. Looking back at the last several months in sports, I think I can do this with a little clearer head. So that said, I present a few predictions for 2010!

1. Oklahoma State Cowboys will get a BCS bid for the 2010 season.

That's right, I said it. Had it not been for the untimely suspension of Dez Bryant halfway through the season, I'm a firm believer that my boys from Stillwater would have finished in the Top 10 and wouldn't have suffered the embarrassing performance over this weekend at the Cotton Bowl against Mississippi. The favorite target of Zac Robinson was suspended earlier in the year for violiating NCAA conduct, by apparently lying about a meeting with Deion Sanders. I think Mike Gundy will regroup the Cowboys and look for a Top 10 finish for 2010.

2. The Chicago Cubs will escape the first round of the playoffs.

Whether or not they survive the NLCS, I'm going on record right now by saying that 2010 will be a little bit better for the Chicago Cubs. The last couple of years have been witness to first round demolitions by the Arizona Cardinals and this past year, an opening round sweep by Joe Torre and the LA Dodgers. The Cubs recently parted with Milton Bradley for an addition to their rotation, so we'll see what happens. But IF the northsiders get to the playoffs, they will survive the opening round.

3. Hulk Hogan will not last through 2010 with TNA Wrestling.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few months, then you're probably aware by now that Hulk Hogan has signed a contract with TNA Wrestling. According to Hogan, he's there to "take over." He's already making news by saying he wants to dispose of the six-sided ring, and bring back the traditional ring. Plus a potential nWo reunion on the live 3-hour Impact on January 4. He promises good things for the younger guys like AJ Styles. But given his history and total inability to willingly put people over, I don't see "The Hulkster" lasting a full year with the company before TNA Founder Jeff Jarrett just goes bat crazy and reasserts his position in TNA.

4. Tiger Woods will return at some point in the 2010 PGA Tour.

Yea, I know, you're probably laughing about that. Truth be told, I kind of laughed too while I was writing that. I just think back to all the noise he's been makin over the last few months with all these supposed mistresses. At one point I think the sponsors that were dropping Tiger were going to sign his wife, who apparently swung a 9-iron pretty well from what I heard. All said though, I think Tiger's going to tough it out and make a successful return in 2010. He may get a Michael Vick type reception on his return, and he may have to prove himself again, but I think he'll get back on track. So long as he doesn't try to pull an AT&T, and try to reach out and touch anybody else!

5. TNA will go full time on Monday nights in 2010.

Yes, I think TNA is just that crazy. Don't get me wrong...I love TNA. I remember their first show in Huntsville, Alabama, right on up through the $9.99 weekly PPV's in Nashville, through the good times and bad. But considering that Hogan and Bischoff are pulling the reigns for TNA now, I don't think it's enough. Their combined egos will want to be the only name in the game, and that means the second installment of the Monday Night Wars. Depending on how the January 4th live Impact goes head-to-head against Monday Night Raw, that could happen sooner than later. Bischoff beat McMahon for 83 straight weeks spanning 1996-1997, and something says he wants to not only do it again, but he wants to beat the streak. Needless to say, it's going to be a VERY interesting year for professional wrestling.

Now, granted these are just MY opinions. If you think something different then please feel free to let me know. I love feedback and welcome it with open arms. 2010 is going to be a great year for all sports and I personally can't wait to see it all unfold. If you have a prediction list of you own, send me the link. I'd love to see what you guys think will happen this year. Just be warned...any bashing on my Cubs, Dolphins, or OSU Cowboys, and I will be forced to throw the first heavy object not nailed down on my desk at you! So enjoy and have a wonderful week!
