I'm nowhere close to turning AC into a stay at home opportunity but I do make some pocket change that adds up through the year and now that Yahoo is part of the equation I have seen an increase in page views.
Despite the fact that I have a degree in journalism, I'm still not sure how some pieces get turned down from upfront payment and other pieces do.
In my time here I have discovered that AC seems to pay 'top dollar' for casino stories, and I'm doing okay with my through the mail autograph success stories as there is a big interest on the web in this hobby.
During my time of contributing to AC, I think I have picked up on some facts.
I believe that some contributors may only look at those articles being posted by those that they are subscribed to or those that leave them a comment.
The sad thing is by doing this, we all may be missing out on interesting articles and talented writers.
So for those of you that may have missed something of interest on my content list, I have decided to recap my top 10 articles that have received the most page views during my time here and also update some of the outcomes.
At number 10 is a story that made local and state headlines in my area.
Blackwell Police Video on Youtube is a story about a cop arresting a man on drug charges while his dash cam rolls. The video sparked the debate as to whether the officer is abusing the suspect or not. The officer still has a job and liked or not, he arrests the worst of the worst everyday. The article has received 1,191 page views since being published on April 13, 2008.
Coming in at number nine on my list of top articles is How I Met Dawn Wells
Meeting the Gilligan's Island star is and will always be one of the highlights of my journalism career so far. The article was published on March 28,2008 for upfront payment and it has received 1,353 page views.
My eighth highest ranking article is about a casino Osage Nation Opens Casino has grabbed the attention of 1,366 readers since Jan. 5, 2008. The casino is small in nature but very popular.
Jumping into my top -10 in seventh place is the story of a homeless man roaming the states in an attempt to bring awareness to the homeless issue.
A day with Roy Gleiter has caught the attention of 1,497 people since March 25, 2010. Most of them I bet have met Gleiter alongside the roadway as he tells everyone to Google his name.
My sixth top ranking story still has me puzzled. After the Yahoo takeover
Pharmacist offers tips to avois weight gain gained over 1,000 page views in a week. The story was published on June 22, 2008 and the 1,000 plus clicks was double what it had received up to that point. To date the story has received 1,512 page views.
My fifth top ranking article is If you can't boycitt BP help the animals I published the story on June 5 as the oil spill was grabbing headlines. It has received 1,566 page views since.
At number four is My fantasy baseball picks The article features my opinions on top fantasy picks and was published in March of 2008. As of to date it has received 1,861 page views.
At number three is Funny Tweets on Twitter I created this on Jan. 3, 2010 and it is a big hit. As of today 2,173 people have viewed it.
Moving up from number 10 last year to number two this year is a product review I did one day in a matter of minutes about the then new FUZE drink Black and Green Tea.
Fuze Black Tea is a hit received over 2,500 page views this year.
And the article holding on to the top spot another year is one that AC refused upfront payment for.
Original Members of the Band Nazareth Embroiled in a Dispute has been viewed 3,878 times since March 7, 2008.
It is the story of one of the former Nazareth band members calling the newspaper where I work one day and sharing his concerns about other members of the band touring under the name Nazareth. In the end AC refused upfront payment and said the topic was too broad. They also said it had a short shelf life. The artilcle received over 2,800 views this year which is over 200 views a month so I guess the topic still hasn't expired.
Anyway, these are just a few of the articles that I have published. I hope that I have inspired some to browse the site and explore outside their favorite content producers. Who knows you might find more favorites.

Post a CommentI'm always interested and surprised what articles are the most popular. Great article!
I bet this article has received quite a few page views as well. :)
Very good article.
I have been surprised by my top articles also.
One of my top ten was turned down by AC for upfront payment, because the powers that be didn't think anybody would search the topic. It was my first entry into the world of Associated Content. Perhaps the person responsible for allowing upfront payment had never heard of Ted Bundy. I don't know, but that article still brings in about 150 readers a month.
I'm always surprised at my top articles too!
Wow, thanks, this is excellent... :o)
good list
Thank you for sharing your top topics! I get frustrated at what they chose to publish/pay for on this site, too!
