Also 40-year-old wonder Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings will return to action after a bye week and take on rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions.
Also the Green Bay Packers will try to get back on track against the Dallas Cowboys and the struggling Tennessee Titans will take on the struggling Buffalo Bills.
These games could makers of breakers for some and the Manning vs. Brady match up is always a statistical comparison for fantasy team owners.
In 2007 the pair matched up in week 9 and both teams were undefeated at the time.
This year the Colts are undefeated and the Patriots are 6-2.
Despite the difference in records the two quarterbacks are nearly even in stats unlike they were in 2007 when Brady had the more dominant numbers.
At the time of their meeting in 2007 Brady had passed for 2,431 yards, 30 touchdowns and two interceptions compared to Manning's 1,832 yards and 13 touchdowns, and three interceptions.
This year Brady has 2,364 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions compared to Manning's 2,545 yards and 16 touchdowns and five interceptions.
Favre is another quarterback that has been shining in the spotlight this year and he has put up some decent fantasy numbers.
These surprise and sometimes unpredicted results have lead to a shake up in top fantasy football players as well.
I have been tracking and participating in fantasy football since 2002.
Out of the players I have selected the following have been the best fantasy point producers.
Arizona Cardinal wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is my number one player. I have only been able to use him a couple times, but in those two selections, he scored 79 points for a 39.5 fantasy point per week (FPPW).
Fitzgerald, who leads the Cardinals in receiving with 632 yards, will help lead the 5-3 Cardinals against the 3-5 Seattle Seahawks this week.
Behind Fitzgerald on my list is Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Mike Simms Walker.
Walker debuted on my fantasy team last week and scored 29 fantasy points against the Kansas City Chiefs.
On the year, Walker has 36 catches, 554 yards and four touchdowns. He is a bargain in most fantasy leagues.
This week Walker and the 4-4 Jags will take on the 4-4 New York Jets.
Walker knocks Peyton Manning into third place on my list.
In 52 selections Manning is averaging 20.88 (FPPW). And as mentioned earlier, Manning and the Colts will take on my fourth place fantasy player, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
Brady has served on my team 35 times and scored 724 fantasy points for a 20.68 (FPPW).
Fifth on my list is Brady's teammate Randy Moss. In 12 selections Randy is averaging 20.58 fantasy points.
Moss is the Patriot's leading wide receiver with 49 catches, 712 yards and five touchdowns.
Arizona Cardinal's QB Kurt Warner is sixth on my list averaging 20.53 fantasy points in 15 selections.
Warner is coming off a five touchdown performance against the Chicago Bears.
Warner and the Cardinals will try to out fly the Seahawks this week.
Seventh on my list is Detroit Lions back up QB, Daunte Culpepper. Over the years, I have selected Culpepper 25 times. He has scored 503 points for a 20.12 FPPW average. This year Culpepper is playing backup to rookie Matthew Stafford. He will probably be on the sidelines this week watching as the Lions take on his old team the Minnesota Vikings.
Next on the list is wide receiver Steve Smith of the Panthers. In 19 starts he is averaging 20.05 fantasy points. So far this year he has one touchdown. This week Smith and the Panthers will try to get on track against the Atlanta Falcons.
Ninth on my list is injured Eagles running back Brian Westbrook with an average of 18.29 fantasy points in 31 selections. Westbrook has been battling a concussion. He hopes to return this week against the San Diego Chargers.
Behind Westbrook on my overall list of top fantasy performers is Reggie Bush with a 18.27 FPPW average. Bush and the undefeated Saints will take on the St. Louis Rams this week.
My football over all top 10 does not include a kicker or a defense but Jeff Wilkens of the Rams has kicked his way to the top of my kicker selections.
Wilkens has scored 370 fantasy points in 37 selections.
Meanwhile the Pittsburgh Steelers are now my top ranking defense averaging 13. 66 fantasy points per week.
My top 10 ranked players in 2009 are Walker averaging 29 fantasy points in one attempt.
In second place is Warner averaging 23 fantasy points.
Tied for third place is Manning and Favre averaging 18 fantasy points.
In fourth place is Steve Slaton averaging 16 fantasy points.
In fifth place is Matthew Stafford averaging 15.6 fantasy points in five selections.
Tied for sixth place is Rickey Willaims and the Pittsburgh defense averaging 13.4 fantasy points.
The Philadelphia Eagle defense is next averaging 11.8 fantasy points.
Mario Manningham is in eighth place averaging 11 fantasy points.
The struggling Clinton Portis is in ninth place averaging 10.66 fantasy points.
Cardinal wide receiver Steve Breaston rounds out the top-10 averaging 10.6 fantasy points.

Post a CommentGreat piece.
I'm going to spend a couple of weeks with my daughter in Sacramento in December. I'll pull up these fantasy picks and see what she thinks. She's the baseball/football officionato of the family. (if my spellings wrong on officionato...sorry)
Good work.
Great ones here!
