My Top Fantasy Football Picks Going into Week 6

Tennessee is Winless and Brett Favre is Undefeated

Marie Lowe
The 2009 NFL season is almost half over already and the Tennessee Titans are winless. Last year they were on they way to having the best record in the league at 12-2 by week 14's end.

This year it is Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings tied with Eli Manning and the New York Giants; Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts; Kyle Orton and the Denver Broncos tied for the best record in the league.

Another team that has taken a turn for the worst compared to last year is the Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers worked they way to a 11-3 record by week 15 last year. This year they are off to a 1-3 start.

These surprise and sometimes unpredicted results have lead to a shake up in top fantasy football players as well.

I have been tracking and participating in fantasy football since 2002.

Out of the players I have selected the following have been the best fantasy point producers.

Arizona Cardinal wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is my number one player. I have only been able to use him a couple times, but in those two selections, he scored 79 points for a 39.5 fantasy point per week (FPPW).

Fitzgerald, who leads the Cardinals in receiving with 260 yards, will try to help lead the Cardinals against the Seattle Seahawks this week.

Behind Fitzgerald on my list is Peyton Manning. In 51 selections, Peyton is averaging 20.94 (FPPW). Don't pick Peyton this week though as he and the Colts will enjoy a bye week.

Behind Manning is New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Brady has served on my team 35 times and scored 724 fantasy points for a 20.68 (FPPW).

Brady is coming off his injury season and has only thrown for six touchdowns. This week Brady and the Pats will take on the struggling Titans. His numbers could be big against the injury riddled Titian defense.

Fourth on my list is Brady's teammate Randy Moss. In 12 selections Randy is averaging 20.58 fantasy points. Like Brady, Moss could put up big numbers this week.

Arizona Cardinal's QB Kurt Warner is fifth on my list averaging 20.15 fantasy points in 13 selections.

Sixth on my list is Detroit Lions QB, Daunte Culpepper. Over the years, I have selected Culpepper 25 times. He has scored 503 points for a 20.12 FPPW average. This year Culpepper is playing backup to rookie Matthew Stafford. He got the start last week and put up 21 fantasy points. He may get another start against the Packers if the injured Stafford is not ready to go.

Next on the list is wide receiver Steve Smith of the Panthers. Smith was once my top rated fantasy player with a 21.29 fantasy points per week. Now in 19 starts he is averaging 20.05 fantasy points. So far this year he has zero touchdowns. This week Smith and the Panthers will try to get on track against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Eagles running back Brian Westbrook ranks eighth on my list averaging 18.72 fantasy points in 29 selections. Westbrook and the Eagles will take on the Oakland Raiders this week.

Behind Westbrook on my overall list of top fantasy performers is Reggie Bush with a 18.27 FPPW average. Bush and the undefeated Saints will take on Eli and the undefeated Giants this week.

LaDainian Tomlinson rounds out my top-10 averaging 18.23 fantasy points in 13 selections. This week Tomlinson and the Chargers will take on the Denver Broncos in a Monday night showdown.

My football over all top 10 does not include a kicker or a defense but Lawrence Tynes of the New York Giants has kicked his way to the top of my kicker selections.

Tynes has scored 80 fantasy points in eight selections.

Meanwhile Jared Allen has helped the Minnesota Vikings become my top ranking defense averaging 10. 2 fantasy points per week.

My top 10 ranked players in 2009 are Culpepper averaging 21 fantasy points in one attempt.

Behind Culpepper in second place is Ricky Williams averaging 16.33 fantasy points in three selections.

In third place is Brett Favre averaging 15.8 fantasy points in five selections.

In fourth place is Matthew Stafford averaging 15.5 fantasy points in four selections.

Behind Stafford is the Philadelphia Defense in fifth place averaging 15 points in three selections.

Philly is followed by the Minnesota defense averaging 12.5 fantasy points in four selections.

Giant kicker Lawrence Tynes is in seventh place averaging 12.2 fantasy points in five selections this year.

In eighth place is Washington Redskin running back Clinton Portis who is averaging 11.5 fantasy points per week in four selections.

In ninth place is Minnesota Viking tight end Visanthe Shiancoe averaging 9.33 fantasy points in three selections.

In 10th place is Ram quarterback Marc Bulger averaging nine fantasy points in one selection.

And in case your wondering, yes my team has had many duds so far this year, I'm attempting to add some studs this week, but the salary cap in my league can be tough.
