Number five would be the spot that Color Splash would come in on my list. It is an all around great show and the host, David Bromstad (Design Star champion) is probably one of the most creative people throughout the HGTV shows. The thing that really doesn't make me get into the show that much is that he really does a lot more talking than designing. It's great to talk a little and let the audience know exactly what you're doing, but he's a really talkative person. Also his designs are little bit too wild for my tastes, yet he is a very imaginative person. Overall, I'd give this show a 3.5 out of 5 stars. You can catch it on Saturdays at 9/8 c.
Coming in at number four would be HGTV Design Star. Of course everyone knows that this is like the HGTV interior design version of Project Runway, but with a lot of people and so many challenges, how can one dismiss the design of at least one person. Most of the shows on HGTV consist of the winners of this show. The judges consist of Genevieve Gordon, Vern Yip, and Candice Olson (the top three best designers the network as ever had). There's really not that much to say about the show for the fact it does change every season with different people and different personalities but of course, it is one of the hottest shows on the network. You can catch this show on Sundays at 10/9 c.
My number three show would be that from Design Star 2 winner Kim Myles. Myles of Styles does what the title of the show says and goes far and beyond with remodeling and bringing personality into whatever is being designed. Although breathtaking while being a viewer, just imagine being the person who's room is completely turned around. This is probably one of the best eccentric home decorating shows and if I ever needed a home makeover, I would definitely call Kim anytime for she's a good choice for over the top style while staying within your budget. Myles of Styles can be watched on Friday nights 8:30/7:30 c.
The number two show on my list would be Divine Design with Candice Olson. This is probably one of the longest running shows on the decorating portion of this network. Candice has the type of "laid back" decorating style when it comes to a certain room that she's working on. She's more of the family setting type of decorator. In other words she stays neutral and soft with the colors she chooses and incorporates them without seeming too over the top and that's what the show is mainly about. To see what I'm describing, catch it on Saturdays at 4/3 c.
Last but not least we have come to the top spot of my five favorite design shows on HGTV. And the winner is...*drumroll please*...Dear Genevieve, which of course is hosted by the gorgeous Genevieve Gordon. I pretty much love this show because not only does she give out great design tips on her show but also it's the fact that she takes pride and has fun on her show (and so does her team). If you're into making homemade arts and craft like items, you will definitely without a doubt love this show. Not only does she incorporate her own ideas, but she lets her team get involved in it and also the homeowners and does a perfect job at going through great lengths with perfection and even some surprises along the way (good ones of course). You can catch this most loved show on Saturdays at 8:30/7:30 c.
Although there are a lot more shows that I love on HGTV (House Hunters being my most favorite), this has concluded my top five favorite designing shows on the network. Of course tune in to not only get ideas, but also some inspiration and well motivation on your next house project too.
