My Top Six Picks for Best Affordable Hybrid Cars of 2010!
Which Affordable Hybrid Cars Are the Best Performers from the 2010 Field?
Seems that everyone in the auto business has jumped onto the hybrid bandwagon with entries ranging from the high priced models like the Escalade Hybrid, to the BMW Active Hybrid 7 model which has an MSRP of $102,300! I never would have guessed there would be such high priced hybrids as these.
My list of the top six Hybrid models which are affordable and save you money on gasoline! Also it helps that you can drive each of these cars right off a car lot almost right away, would be the following:
1) Honda Insight
Selling for around $18,700 these cars have a decent cargo space of 32 cubic feet. The fuel mileage is exceptional at 40 city and 43 highway. The 10.6 gallon fuel tank gives you a driving range of 424 miles in the city and 456 highway. This model has long been the high mileage champ, and it appears that finally others are moving towards this high level of fuel efficiency!
2) Honda Civic
sells for about $21,900 and these cars are getting a lot of customer attention lately. This model has a Spacious cargo area at 10 cubic feet. You can hardly find one on the lot since the prices are so good! Getting 4o mpg city and 45 highway, and their 12.3 gallon tank can take you about 492 miles in the city, and 554 miles on the highway!
3) Toyota Camry
These are going for about $23,800 and have an excellent reputation for quality. And the fuel mileage is not too bad for a fairly recent addition to the Hybrid lines. Expect to get 33 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. With a 17.2 gallon fuel tank you can go about 568 city, and 585 highway.
4) Toyota Prius
selling for a bargain price of $25,000 you can expect a high quality toy in your driveway. The mileage is not too shabby! There is a 40 cubic foot cargo space, which is awesome in this small sized package. Expect to get 48 mpg city, and 51 mpg highway. Their 11.9 gallon fuel tank will take you away to the tune of about 607 miles at city speeds, and 571 miles when we are all in the car.
5) Nissan Altima
With a decent base price of $25,100 you will enjoy a really smooth car with great fuel economy, at 33 mpg city, and 35 highway, since they used a 20 gallon tank you can expect to get 700 miles away at city driving speeds, and about 660 on the highway.
6) Ford Fusion
Selling for about $27,950 these are at the higher end of this grouping, but you really get a lot of car for your money! With 12 cubic feet of cargo space you can see that the majority of room is left for the driver and their closest friends. The 17 gallon tank allow this car to get 697 mile on a tank going the average city speeds, and 612 miles on the highway. You will get about 41 mpg in the city, and this drops to 36 on the highway. As for cargo and passenger area, this is the most spacious hybrid in this list.
Each one of these cars has its advantages, and one might choose based on the feedback they get from other owners. Going to your local dealer which sells these cars can get you plenty of good information to help you make a wise buying decision.
There are always new products coming out, and sometimes it is wiser to wait a little while until the newer models hit the streets, because that is when you will see the older models go on sale!
