10. Soma~ Siamese Dream,1993, What can I say but this song is great and it was chosen for it's lyrics which at the time I had felt that had almost too much meaning for me.
9. The Aeroplane Flies High Turns Left Looks Right~Box Set 1996. I heard this by mistake one day, I could not afford the box set when it came out but my boyfriend at the time acquired it on trade and we sat there listening to every song on every album. When we got to this one I remember thinking how powerful the music on this sounded, it amazed me.
8. Where Boys Fear To Tread~ Mellon Collie, 1995 Great overall song, the whole band works together perfectly to make this song stand out from the rest, my opinion anyways.
7. Bodies~ Mellon Collie 1995, One of my favorites for anger purposes, it's not that it's that angry of a song but when I'm in a bad mood and need to sing it out, I'll play this song.
6. Cherub Rock~ Siamese Dream ,1993 This song brings back memories of my late teens. Days when I was in my first apartment hanging up posters on the wall listening to music, smoking, it's a feel good great rock tune.
5. Thirty-Three~ Aeroplane Flies High Boxed Set, 1995 Truthfully I don't listen to this song too much, it brings back memories of me when I was young and in love, it makes me cry but it's so beautiful. It is the song I listened to every time I had a break up or felt lost. It makes me want to get up early watch the sunrise and forgive myself.
4. Glynis~ From the No Alternative Compilation, 1993 This song made my list because it was the first time I noticed how melodic they could be, beautifully sung by Billy Corgan. This song makes me insanely happy to hear, even though the lyrics might not be the happiest.
3. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness~ From Same, 1995 I never cared for music without lyrics but there is just something about this one that never makes me fast forward to the next song, it's breathtakingly beautiful .
2. Dancing In The Moonlight~ 1993 I first heard this song about eleven-twelve years ago not knowing at the time this was a cover but it does not matter they did this song so beautifully it belongs to them now. It reminds me of a time when I was younger at heart and in love with love itself, it makes me want to slow dance and lay my head on a shoulder not many songs make me want to slow dance at all.
1. Today ~From Siamese Dream, 1993 this was the song that introduced me to the Smashing Pumpkins. I was fifteen ditching school at my best friends house. It was Autumn in California, leaves were all around varying colors of beauty and as we sat back and forth between the back porch and the T.V where MTV was on in the background this song came on. I stopped, had to go inside and listen, instantly mesmerized. Smashing Pumpkins became my favorite band in the span of four minutes and to this day I can put on this song, whether I'm happy, sad does not matter this song takes me back to the time that the autumn colors were all around and the world was my playground and that is beautiful.
When it comes to Smashing Pumpkins all I can think is Thank You! Thank you to the band for blessing us all with wonderful music that brought me and all the other fans alike memories that will be treasured for lifetimes.
