Despite the tragedies surrounding their post Beatle (as well as during) lives the music continues to inspire artists, musicians, and writers. As well as the way people conduct their lives in general. It seemed as though through the music they encapsulated the thoughts of not just themselves, but many people.
These are my top ten favorite songs by the Beatles, I hope you enjoy my list; it is by no means technical. This article is just something I decided to do for fun, as I feel my writing has been entirely too serious lately.
Number Ten- The Ballad of John and Yoko: It is the story of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's wedding. It's romantic and sarcastic all at once and is actually able to be danced to, which is fun. It also speaks of one fundamental truth in life, no matter what you do or who you are; you can't please everyone all of the time.
Number Nine- Here Comes The Sun: It's such a hopeful song, who wouldn't like it?
Number Eight- Anytime at All: An excellent song of love and support, it's also upbeat which is usual for such a song.
Number Seven- Hey Jude: It's a great song about opening the heart and it has a beautiful albeit long running harmony.
Number Six- Help: A great song plain and simple. This was John Lennon's cry for help during a difficult time in his life in the sixties.
Number Five- Ticket to Ride: A song about a clearance given to prostitutes by doctors in Europe during the 1950's and 1960s. The instruments in this one are used fantastically.
Number Four- Taxman: A favorite of mine expressing George's frustration over high taxes in Britain.
Number Three- A Day In the Life: An excellent beginning to an excellent melody. Just listen.
Number Two: Blackbird- An excellent song about rising from the ashes.
Number One- In My Life: An absolutely beautiful song about past loves and losses.

Post a CommentWhen it comes to the Beatles, I'm not sure I could pick my top ten songs. What a songbook they created! On a sentimental day, I might choose "I Will," "The Long and Winding Road," "Here, There and Everywhere" or "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." In a more energetic moment, I might pick "You Can't Do That," "Good Day, Sunshine," "Come Together" or any of dozens of other favorites. Of course, my teen would always choose "Baby, You Can Drive My Car." Nice article. You started me humming, right here at my desk! ;-)
fun read and i wasn't born either but they had some really cool tunes that i enjoyed.
This was a fun read. How about "When I'm 64?" I remember my middle school music teacher teaching me that song when I was about 9 or 10. He must have been a big fan of the Beatles because I also learned "Penny Lane" and others too.
