Number Ten - Carl Arendt's Micro Layouts For Model Railroads: As a railroad enthusiast I just love what Arendt and others that he features here have done with small spaces. There all also tips that could fit with layouts of larger size.
Number Nine - Danger Magazine: This one is up and coming, it will probably be better in a year or two. This website has an adventurous outlook, and I couldn't help but like it due to this quote from its "about" page, "Regulatory enthusiasm is destroying adventure. Rules, precautions and fear are stealing true adventure, a hazardous and exciting undertaking, from our lives. Without new uncensored experiences, what is life? Can we always hide from death and danger when they are both inevitable? If we want to make the world a utopia of experience, we must ignore fear, embrace danger and go forth into the world to find adventure wherever we can. Danger Magazine rejects all scripted experiences, journeys, jobs and activities. We judge a scripted experience to be any action that has been planned in order to avoid the unknown, to reject the unknown and thus to kill the mystery that is at the heart of all adventure." As an opponent of paternalism and nannyism everywhere, I could not help but love this one.
Number Eight - LysanderSpooner.org: The 19th century anarcho-libertarian jurist finally gets his homepage in the 21st. This is a personal hero of mine and begins the "Libertarian Trifecta" of sites in the center of the list. His work is always classic.
Number Seven - LewRockwell.com: The eponymous website of Ludwig von Mises Institute President Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr. In spite of the name, this site carries work by a wide variety of authors. No other thing was more instrumental in transforming me into a libertarian than this website.
Number Six - The Ludwig von Mises Institute: The Mises Institute is much more scholarly than Institute President Lew Rockwell's website, which is more editorial/opinion oriented. Even if I do not spend as much time here as on LewRockwell.com I find it to be a much more respectable source. Of particular interest are complete works by greats such as Murray Rothbard, Friedrich Hayek, Henry Hazlitt, and Ludwig von Mises himself.
Number Five - Wikipedia: I've got an old set of Britannicas and I consider them to be inferior to Wikipedia by leaps and bounds. It is no surprise to me that elitist scholars hate Wikipedia simply because it has allowed the common man to produce the greatest encyclopedia in history. All I can tell you is that the academic world ought to warm up to this site.
Number Four - Google: Need I say more? This is the most useful tool the Internet has to offer. Some gripe about the privacy but so what? I love everything Google related.
Number Three - Survival Blog: Anything you need to survive and to live. A DIY emporium of wisdom. The bottom line is that this blog is hard to describe, but I had a hard time deciding as to whether or not to rank this even higher in the number one or number two spots, but other considerations won out. I would just encourage you to visit this and check it out for yourself.
Number Two - Associated Content: I need no link because you're here already. This is one of my favorite sites, and if you haven't joined already there is no reason not to. At some later point I intend to dedicate an entire article to explaining why it is a rational choice to join AC. You make money for writing easy articles, and you can do it any time you want. You lose nothing but the time it takes to register and are guaranteed to gain if you write.
Number One - Free Rice: I don't spend a whole lot of time on this website, but how could I honestly not put this one at the top? Its a neat website where you play some vocabulary game and it donates rice to the third world for every one you get right. In about ten minutes you can feet multiple people per day. I am not by any means a bleeding heart but this is by all means the easiest way you can alleviate the suffering of others I can think of; go there!
So there you have it. My top ten favorite websites. This is not a static list and is subject to change at any time, but for right now this is how things stand.
