My Top Three Favorite Viral Videos

If you've been on the Internet longer than five minutes, chances are you've seen or been sent a link to one of the countless viral videos out there. Viral videos are ones that are seen by countless people who find something so enjoyable about them that they can't help showing them to other people. From cats playing the piano to synchronized treadmill dancing and people falling off of things, there's something for everyone out there. These are some of my favorite viral videos.

1. Nick Pitera singing "A Whole New World"

At first glance he seems like a typical kid who can carry a tune, right? I'm sure you hear the same on Gleeor American Idol every night. However, the best part of the video comes at about a minute into it. You go ahead; I'll wait.

That's right; Nick Pitera sings both the male and female vocals of the song! I'll never forget the first time someone showed it to me and now I love showing it to people. Watching jaws drop never ceases to be amusing. Nick has a lot of other videos and a legitimately good voice, but "A Whole New World" will always be his masterpiece to me.

2. Natalie Dee's Wiener Jamboree

Don't let the name fool you. This video is most definitely for all ages. Using bread, cheese, wieners, and a hilarious accent, artist Natalie Dee's video is part instructions for making a tasty treat and part hilarious quotable fun. Part of the fun of viral videos is sharing them with others and that's what I love most about this one. Now you and a friend can have entire conversations consisting of "shut up dog.....shut up dog" while drinking your "vintage June 2007 Mountain Dew". And like Natalie Dee, my favorite vegetable is ketchup.

3. This one is so shocking that I can't tell you the name

Did you click the link? Well then you, my friend, have just been Rickrolled! Rickrolling is when someone places a link on a forum or a site that says the following video contains something so amazing so shocking that you, the reader, can't wait to see it. Only once you have clicked the link, instead of the awesome and/or shocking video you were promised, instead you're treated to the Rick Astley tune "Never Gonna Give You Up". Sure it's random, sure it makes no sense, and sure, the phenomenon is at least three years old (ancient in Internet years), but for some reason it works. To me, that's part of the fun of the Internet -the ability to turn a forgettable music video from over twenty years ago into something fresh and relevant again.
