My Trial with Mass Doses of Vitamin A

The Link I Made Between Vitamin A and Wellness

In October of 2009, I was diagnosed with Pneumonia and I was in complete misery. It had been a week, and I was still feeling pretty bad. I decided to go ahead and go to the chiropractor at the end of the week and get an adjustment since I had been laying in bed all week. The chiropractor put Biofreeze on the upper part of my back, and then used Shockwave therapy on me to stimulate my lungs. Within a few minutes I felt better, but he had more information for me that would help me feel dramatically better.

At the end of my visit, Dr. Fick, my Orthopedic Chiropractor in Cincinnati, Ohio, advised me to go get some Vitamin A, and take ten for the day. He said that by the end of the day I would feel 30% better. I had never tried this before, but I was desperate and feeling like death warmed over. He advised me to take eight of them the following day, then six, then two. I thought it sounded like a lot but I wasn't going to question him. I had been seeing him for several months, and had come to trust him with everything. I had discovered that Dr. Fick was a world of knowledge for me.

I drove down to the Walgreens which was a half mile down the street and picked up a bottle of Vitamin A, and took ten as he had instructed. I had also eaten spicy food as he instructed to open up the nasal passages. The spicy food helped to somewhat relieve my asthma, and I felt some relief in that respect with my breathing. By around 9 p.m. that evening I was indeed feeling better as Dr. Fick had said I would, and I was glad that relief had finally come. I was never skeptical of his advice, but I was hoping that it would indeed work as quickly as he said it would. I had been miserable, coughing constantly night and day, and I had been sleeping in a recliner. That was my only solace and I was willing to try anything.

Vitamin A isn't known for immune building properties, but it is known for its effect on the teeth, the skeletal system and cell division. Vitamin A is vital in regulating the immune system and fights off infection by generating more white blood cells which destroy bacteria and viruses. This is information I didn't know, and was surprised that my primary care physician had never told me. Why is it so hard for a doctor to tell you something that is extremely beneficial and helpful? Antibiotics are definitely needed in the case of an infection like pneumonia, but it's extremely helpful when you have other supplements to add into your diet when your body is deficient in them. Anytime you are ill, you are deficient of something and it's necessary that it be replaced.

Vitamin A is extremely beneficial to the body, and it's well worth trying. It is not recommended that you take it in large doses on a regular basis, but taking one a day is fine. When you are ill, it's a good idea to take it in larger doses. Taking one a day will help build the immune system so that you may not have to worry about it later.

If you do trust your doctor, then ask them for their advice on taking the Vitamin A. If they don't ever recommend supplements to you period, then it's a good idea to find a holistic physician in your area, or go to your local health food store and ask what they recommend. You can at least try it, and if it doesn't work then you can move on to something else.
