My Twitter Account and the AC Twitter Challenge

Twitter is Crucial to the Promotion of My AC Articles

Darrin Atkins
Twitter is the relatively new micro-blogging service that is sweeping the world and becoming more popular every second. Twitter is highly useful for promotion of Associated Content articles because people gain instant access to the content. Here is information on my use of Twitter.

As an Associated Content (AC) writer, I always need to be thinking about promoting my content and my articles. Without fail, the first thing I do after one of my articles is published is post a link to the article and a brief description of the content on my Twitter page.

My Twitter Profile Page

I have a Twitter profile name that is very easy to remember. It is simply my first name, which is Darrin, with one extra letter "r" in the middle. So my profile is darrrin.

Here is a link to my Twitter profile: www.twitter.com/darrrin. You are welcome to follow me if you wish.

As you can tell from my Twitter page, I now have around 1,850 followers, which are people who have signed up to receive my content to their main page. I currently follow just over 1,900 people. This means that I follow slightly more people than the number of people combined who follow me.

Most people have approximately the same ratio, except for famous celebrities who often follow just a few people and have millions of people follow them. One thing about Twitter is that you need to keep this level balanced and Twitter will not allow you to just follow thousands of people and have few followers. But Twitter will let an unlimited number of people follow you if you happen to be well-known and popular.

Favorite Followers

Over time, I have discovered that other AC contributors also use Twitter to promote their content. They know the value of Twitter and how others can find their content very quickly.

Two of my favorite AC contributors who use Twitter are Faith Draper, who can be found on Twitter at www.twitter.com/byfaithonly, and laurie1979 who can be found at www.twitter.com/laurie1979. You can see that these writers use Twitter to promote their AC content, as well as their content at other sites.

My Impressions of Using Twitter

Using Twitter is almost automatic these days for people who earn their living online. It is the first thing I think about once I have a piece of content published on Associated Content.

Posting on Twitter also guarantees to give you more viewers and thus more money. It may not be a lot more but every little bit helps.

I highly recommend using Twitter because it takes just a couple minutes to set up a Twitter profile page and then you can use that page to promote your AC content.

Oh Darrin great article and soooo sweet of you to mention me as one of your favorite tweets - sorry I didn't get to this article earlier, I'm so very far behind on things.

I'm with Karen; it was a big deal for me getting on facebook! I'm relatively new at all of this and it just boggles my mind trying to understand how to keep up with all of it. Thank you for the info!

Thanks for the advice...I also am one who has not yet signed up on Twitter. I have so much trouble already keeping up with AC and a couple other sites...I know it would improve my views, but I would be totally unable to reciprocate!~Which would, of course, make my views go down again!
