My Two Cents on Climate

Scott Bauer
I have an opinion on most everything, so why not stir the already overflowing pot of climate and global warming.
Sitting here in central Wisconsin, in January, the alleged rampantly rising global temperature seems like hogwash. But I can see past my own frozen nose and have seen the photos and read the reports of glaciers melting and the like.
End of days...the beginning of the end...etc..etc..
Fear mongering drivel.

Someone is making an ark-load of cash off of this soothsaying and prophetic gibberish. Who? I don't know. But to this old man, it all looks likes yet another example of human arrogance. And a complete disregard for the billions of years of Earth's history that came before us.
The planet is just fine people. It always has been, and it always will be. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, that us mutant monkeys can do to this blue globe that will destroy it forever. We aren't that powerful. And it is my guess we never will be.
We can let loose all the nukes we have ever built over the last 60 years and all we will accomplish is our own extinction. The Earth will recover. And she will recover quicker than any of us can stomach. That is the crux of the issue. We see ourselves as the only reason the planet exists; to support the human species. Without us there is nothing. Again, arrogance in its most raw form.
Perhaps the global warming that is happening right now is natural. Not caused by our SUVs, not caused by our lawnmowers, and not caused by farting cows. (yes, those are all reported causes of greenhouse gasses)
Maybe....just maybe...old Mother Earth is still warming up from the last Ice Age and our split second blip of existence, in geological time, makes our ego run wild with false pride and shame of what we think we have done.
So relax folks. Find some other issue to rail for or against. The bouncing blue ball in space where we live is just as vibrant and healthy as she has always been. And she will stay that way for eons to come...with or without us.
