My Ulcerative Colitis Book Recommendations

Gary Davis
If you have ulcerative colitis and you like sports then a book you would love would be a book entitled "Alive and Kicking" by Rolf Benirschke's, a past place kicker for the San Diego Chargers who has had severe ulcerative colitis and, indeed, had an "ostomy". He played a number of seasons in the NFL.

This book is interesting because it describes Mr. Benirschke's general decline in health; his ultimate collapse on the team plane; his surgery and his ultimate victory over the illness resulting in many additional seasons in professional football and his position as an advocate for "ostomates".

I am going to give you a deal! I love learning about many things and I do have a bent towards medical subjects. Most people don't like to go out looking for books and, the cutting edge methods of reading these days are online books or in other cases e-books.

There is a site called wrongdiagnosis.com which has placed 16 ulcerative colitis medical texts online. This alone gives one a plethora of ulcerative colitis to read. It is a great opportunity to do an academic and exhaustive study of the illness.

There are titles such as "Handbook of Diseases" where the major study relates to bowel obstructions and "Field Guide of Bedside Diagnosis" relating to gastrointestinal bleeding. What a wonderful opportunity!

I must share with you another piece of information that I discovered while researching this article. As has been well documented, there is a major difference in Eastern and Western Culture when it comes to the number of ulcerative colitis cases. It has been found that perhaps the position at the time of evacuation is more conducive to a healthy bowel; it is a fascinating study.

One final book is a book by Jon Zonderman entitled "Understanding Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis". This book is a comprehensive resource for all inflammatory bowel disorders.

If you want to read it is all here. Read "Alive and Kicking" for enjoyment and a wonderful "Horatio Alger" story. You can read sixteen medical tests from wrongdiagnosis.com for analysis and academic study. (if you desire that much information) You can study the differences between Eastern and Western philosophy when it comes to the bowel and, you can settle in with a book that will, in a light manner tell all you want to know about inflammatory bowel disease.

I really think we have got all the bases covered and then some! Good reading!
