My Unbiased Review of The Hurt Locker

Allie Bojko
It was quite intrigued in this movie The Hurt Locker considering it did win a couple of big awards beating out several other decent movies. I decided to pay a visit to my local Blockbuster store and rent this movie since I have never seen it or even heard of it until now. I was also told it wasn't widely advertised since it was built on a low budget and that it was released in a select few theaters. I wasn't really a box office success considering it only made abou1 15 million dollars in overall gross. I did find it very odd that a movie like this can win big awards considering that was a movie that went under the radar.

In did in fact watch the movie and just can't understand how in the world this movie won those awards since it's an impossible film to digest. In my opinion this movie is far-fetched and appears to me to be written by an individual that has absolutely no clue what goes on in the life of the army as well as the fighting strategies or tactics used in war.

I was really hoping that I would end up liking it but in all seriousness I was truly bored of this movie. I truly hated how the movie was recorded because throughout the movie its constantly shaking in every scene, to where it gets ridiculous, I was felt sick from all of the moments that I felt like I was on one big rollercoaster ride throughout the movie. There are so many glaring errors and that it really does take away from the movie's credibility. There were a couple of weird circumstances in the movie that their not really possible, like when the car was torched in flames after a single gun shot, and when it was on fire it was put out by a small hand held extinguisher which is behind ridiculous.

Almost every scene in the movie were pretty much predictable from start to finish. I really felt like the movie was rushed to the point that you also couldn't relate to any of the character's development of or lack of. Renner's character has the same persona throughout the movie with his home problems, recklessness, and his addiction to adrenaline rush. I would recommend the movie Stop-Loss with Ryan Philippe rather than watching this movie the Hurt Locker but yet again this is strictly my opinion.

I enjoyed the movie for what it was - entertaining. It's not realistic in the slightest, but it's kind of fun to watch. But I agree, the guy doesn't mature throughout the entire movie, gets his teammate shot, etc. I found myself being really annoyed with the main character.

thanks for the honest review, I haven't seen it yet, and usually don't like "war" type movies, so for sure I won't be watching this one!
