Living in New York, the drive up to the Canadian border only took a few hours. I had some suspicions that crossing the border might be a bit of a hassle but it really went pretty fast. We had out passports ready and identification in order and we crossed the border quickly. We decided to stay in a hotel and since the United States exchange rate in Canadian currency is so cheap we were able to stay in Canada longer than we had initially planned. The hotel was really quite nice. The rooms were very spacious and clean. They came with a full bathroom and bathtub as well as a living room with couch and big television. There was a diner on the main floor of the hotel so I was able to eat early in the morning when I got up before i started my day.
The first day I wasted no time at all and headed straight for the Niagara Falls sight. If you have never seen it, it is hard to describe in words. The sight is absolutely breathtaking. You can stand over a giant cliff and watch the water fall down or you can stand at the bottom of the Falls and see the water come down from that angle. At the base of the Falls there is a giant mist that is hardly visible through. The Falls stretches as far as the eye can see it. I was actually able to take a ferry cruise that went side by side to the Niagara Falls. The wait was really long but the boats were able to hold many passengers and the ride was well worth it. On the ferry, the captain of the boat explained in depth the nature of the Niagara Falls and how it acted as a divided between the U.S. and Canadian border. He also told us the statistics about the Niagara Falls such as its depth, width, height, and what sea animals and fish are found in it. On the boat, they give you a poncho and you are going to need it because there is such a great mist. The mist causes precipitation in the air and gets you soaking wet. You can take pictures on the ferry but it is hard to capture the full beauty of the Falls from just a snapshot.
The next day we went to a Roller Coaster theme Park which had many great rides and attractions. We were able to make a great day out of it but it was nothing compared to the previous days' activity.
We spent a few more days in Canada, visiting tourist shops and eating at restaurants. Tourists are treated well by Canadian people as it helps their economy.
I strongly recommend that you check out the Niagara Falls area on a short vacation trip. The sight is breathtaking and it will make a trip that you will never forget.
