My Views on Abortion, Part 2

Tim Brown
Today in Part Two, I look at another controversial topic--abortion.

Keeping with the formula, I look at the Wikipedia and Conservapedia definitions, other valid information, then summarize. So, let's get started.

Wikipedia : An abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus/embryo, resulting in or caused by its death.

As always, Wikipedia gives and unbiased definition.

Conservapedia : Abortion is the induced termination of a pregnancy. Abortion is a billion-dollar industry in the United States and Western Europe except for Ireland, Malta and Poland, where it is generally illegal. God warns in His word that a nation that sheds innocent blood will not prosper.

... And, as always, Conservapedia is more focused on convincing you that it's wrong. In fact, in the next paragraph, it jumps straight into it, saying that 80% of women who see an ultrasound of the fetus choose not to abort... their source, and article that says in the very last line,

"It's very few - less than a quarter," she [Clinkenbeard] said. [on viewing ultrasounds, which she says are taken before every abortion] "And the ones that do as far as changing their mind? Very, very few."

The article also points out that the studies were conducted in places actively trying to stop people from having abortions.

But I'm not here to dissect Conservapedia articles. Anyone reading this likely knows just how biased they are.

I support abortion at every stage of the pregnancy, because I support freedom. I do not like or agree with late-stage pregnancies, but it would be far too arrogant for me to decide what's best for other people. I could never stop someone from doing it, no matter how much I disagree with it. In my perfect world, it would be severely discouraged, but allowed, when the infant reached independent viability (the point at which it could survive outside of the womb).

But, oh well.
