My Visit to Munnar in the Kerala State, India

Munnar is a very peaceful place. It's little costly affair but you will never forget this place and would like to visit again and again. We reached to Kochin ( Ernakulam ) and from their by tourist bus reached to Munnar. This place comes under Kerala State. Munnar is the highest peak in South India. The weather here is very cool and very ideal for tourist to have a peaceful holiday. A lush green Munnar has range of Mountains, Lakes, Waterfalls, Tea & Coffee Estates, Herbal Plantation, Forest and above all, It's a heaven on earth. This a very popular hill station. It's tea producing area and you would see tea plantation every where form the moment you land in Munnar. Tata Tea Company are the major players here.

There are plenty hotels and holiday resorts available for tourist. The rates are little on higher side. The south Indian style food is very popular here but you have the choice of other food too. The hotel or resort in which you stay here, provides you a variety of food to suit your taste. All major sight seeing places are in the range of 7 to 35 km from Munnar. You can hire a car and see these places leisurely.

Rajamala is very beautiful place. This place is well above 2500 Mts to sea level. You find here rare species of mountain Goats. Eravikulam National Park is here. Please check up the timings. It is restricted in monsoon. The park is very beautiful surrounded by the mountains. There are 3 regions and tourist are only allowed to enter in the area which is allocated for tourist. You also get a trekking facilities here. It's a trekkers paradise.

Annayirangal is place where you see miles of tea plantation. The surrounding is all lush green except for blue sky. There is dam near to this place. Take a seat here and just enjoy the nature at best. Green tea plantation, blue sky and cool breeze, what more a tourist can ask for?.

Devikulam also a beautiful place. You feel very fresh here at this hill station. The lavish green lawns are just beautiful. The Sita Devi lake with it's clean and clear water is a treat to watch. This lake is famous for fishing. This is very picturesque place and would certainly challenge your camera skills.

Power House Waterfall is on the way to Perriyar Wildlife Sanctuary. This is a scenic spot. Spend some time which is worth watching this waterfall. Feel the cool breeze and sound of water.

Mattupetty Lake & Dam are the places not to be missed. This is a ideal picnic spot. You get a boating facility here. The wide spread Kundala Tea plantation farm and Kundala lake are other attractions near to this place. A specialized dairy farm is very near to this area..Visitors are allowed in limited area. Please check the timings.

Pothamedu is another location which is worth seeing for tea, coffee and cardamom farms. The place is surrounded by mountains. It's an ideal place to walk through lush green mountains. This place attracts trekkers also. This place is very beautiful and rich in scenery. Do not miss this place.

Attukal is very nice place. The waterfalls and the green hills is just out of this world. A challenging place for your photographic skills. The green surrounding and cool atmosphere is just what you wish. It's treat to your eyes. This place is also ideal for long treks.

Nyayamakkad is the place on the way to Rajamala. The waterfall here is which is very beautiful. The water falling from the great height is a delightful scene. Take a good break here for trekking.

Marayoor is famous place for Sandalwood trees. The sandalwood factory is run by the forest department. Munnar to Marayoor journey itself is a treat to your eyes. You come across rocky hills, rivers, cave temples, waterfalls and bamboo forests, is all you see here. There is children park which is worth seeing. This is a very interesting place and not to be missed.

Munnar is also famous for Spice Farms. You can buy here these things. You get Cloves, Cardamom, Nutmeg, Peppers, Cinnamon, Ginger, Garlic, Turmeric which are produced here. Tea & Coffee are the other prime products.

There are still many places which are equally very good in and around Munnar. Once you take a taxi and start sight seeing you will come across so many things. Your Camera would be full of snaps which would give pleasure to watch when you are back home. I have decided to visit Munnar again. How about you.
