My Watcher

Janis I. Monroe
You are there in the morning
When I rise to greet the day
To enjoy the sun streaming in through the windows
And embrace me with its warm golden rays

Another day of creative writing begins
A solitary profession that sometimes seems grim
But I know the long lonely hours will be worth it in the end

I sit at my laptop ready to start
But there is one thing I must do before the words depart
I close my eyes and thank You for the words in my heart
I never know what I might say that could give someone a new start

Oh, Father, guide me in this endeavor
Without Your guidance I would be lost forever

Father, work with me, shine through me, give my words meaning
Help me to write things that are not deceiving

My Watcher in everything I must face
Guide me this day, this time and place
For with your instruction my words won't be so commonplace

With You I'll be able to reach those how lives may otherwise go untouched
May those who read my words feel much

Oh, my Watcher, thank You for the gift you've given me
As the days goes on may we work as a team
Instructor to student and Father to daughter we will always be
