I recently had my first trip to the Windy City, Chicago! What a wonderful experience. The people, the place, and the entire atmosphere were a true delight. During my trip, I made a few new friends who were experiencing the adventure with me for the first time as well. Some highlights include:
- The Taste of Chicago: The Taste of Chicago is Chicago's annual food feast held during July! The Taste is held at Grant Park. Various vendors have booths where you get a sample of their tasty foods. I tried Barbeque from Sweet Baby Ray's, fresh homemade potato chips from Harry Caray's, and even Caribbean food at one vendor. You definitely have to experience The Taste!
- The Oprah Show: Okay, so I did not get to go to The Oprah Show, but my newfound friend and I took a long walk to find where the show is filmed!! What an adventure. We got lost, needed directions, and found our way just before it got dark. The nice security guard inside let us know that they were closed, but we could request tickets online. I am guessing this is as close as I will get to Oprah for the time being.
- The Navy Pier: The Navy Pier is nestled along Lake Michigan and provides a picturesque view of relaxation, strolling, and a calming atmosphere. There are restaurants, a Ferris wheel, entertainment, and more. You even have the opportunity to take a boat ride; there is something for everyone in the family.
- Michigan Avenue: Michigan Avenue runs blocks and blocks and consists of various shops (from high-end to others), restaurants, hotels, and landmarks. Part of Michigan Avenue is also known as The Magnificent Mile, which includes more stores and some of the tallest buildings in the United States. The architecture of the buildings is truly amazing.
- The Weather: The weather during my trip was beautiful. I believe this time of the year is the most opportune time to visit Chicago and experience its weather at its best. It was not overly hot and definitely not freezing cold. "Just right" would describe it all.
