My WordPress Theme Addiction

With All the Free Themes Available, How Can You Test Drive Them All?

PJ Richards
If you are the proud owner of a wordpress blog, you know how incredibly easy it is to change themes. It's too easy. And there are far too many free themes out there. How can you ever test drive them all?

I do all of my hosting at Hostgator and my plan is an unlimited domain one. So I can create all the sites I want to. Wordpress has replaced nearly all of my 'normal' html websites. This is both blessing and curse. I can change a site's appearance with the click of a button.

Great for finding the perfect site look. Not great if you really enjoy trying out all the themes. Really bad if you're having trouble finding the perfect theme. Gotta love the thrill of clicking a button and seeing instant results. Green looks okay but purple might look better. Right column? Left column? Both columns?

No wonder I'm addicted. With the click of an "apply theme" button, I have changed the look of an entire site. I have total creative power. (Of course, that power is only as good as my sense of color and design. If I had real creativity as far as design is concerned, I'd be the one creating the themes.)

Last week I took the time to download my blog to wamp on my computer. I can now play with themes all I want and no one has to know unless I actually go "live" with the changes. The good news is that I no longer waste time playing spider solitaire. The bad news is that I have brought my addiction home to roost right on my laptop.
