My New Year's Resolution Update: The Lifestyle Change that I Will Make During January, 2010
Chunking Down Change, One Month at a Time
In that article I described my five point plan for achieving that goal. Now it is time to put deeds to words. I feel somewhat hesitant to publicize my change ahead of time as is reflected in this quotation: Never tell your resolution beforehand, or it's twice as onerous a duty. (John Selden). Nevertheless, I'm ready to improve my life, so here goes!
An issue that I need to address
I made a number of changes in 2009 that "discombobulated" my work flow. First and foremost, I purchased a new HP laptop computer with a different operating system. Next, I changed from one internet provider to another, including changing email systems. And finally, I purchased Microsoft Office Outlook software to manage my calendar, contacts and tasks. Uff da!
Everything seems to be humming right along, except for one area which is going to be my focus for change in January, 2010. Microsoft Office Outlook is great; however, I haven't spent the necessary time needed to enter all of my contacts and related information! I want to be able to readily access up-to-date information and also print my own telephone directory so that I have copies available for ready reference in several areas of my home.
These are the sticking points that continually irritate me right now: I possess scribbled update notes on my old printed telephone directory; there is an ever increasing collection of pieces of paper containing addresses, telephone numbers, and other tidbits that I want to computerize; there is a hand-written notebook with email contact information that I've never entered into my new email address book; I have only partially completed entering contact information in my Microsoft Office Outlook software package, and in general, I am the dissatisfied owner of a mess that I need to change!
The lifestyle change which is my goal for January, 2010
During the upcoming month I resolve to bring order out of the chaos that now reigns in my life regarding any and all contact information that I wish to save, and I will get that information properly inputted before the end of January 31, 2010. I will have a follow-up article at the end of January, and at the same time I will share the change that I plan to implement in February. I intend to have a good report to share with my readers.
