MyNoggin.Com: An Educational Service for Preschoolers

Should You Pay for It?

If you're a parent to a preschooler and you are looking for something to entertain them without rotting their brains, why not consider using the MyNoggin.com service? This service is $9.95 a month (or less, depending on the billing arrangements you make) and is an absolutely wonderful investment in your child's entertainment and education. For those who agree to purchase more than a month's of service at once, the monthly fee goes down and if you want to cancel before then, all you have to do is pay the remainder of your commitment. For anyone who hasn't used the service before, there is a seven day trial, and a monthly option. Some people, such as customers of Charter Communications may be able to get a free subscription to the service, as a thank you for being a valued customer.

For my five year old, I signed up with an account several months ago. He loves all the shows on Noggin and when he saw the advertisement for the MyNoggin service, he was completely in love. He loves spending time on the computer and I thought this would be an excellent way to give him "work" to do while I worked on my writing projects. This only helps because we have two computers, but when I want to work and the other is down for some reason, he watches Noggin and plays on his v-tech educational laptop. If he's good while I work, he then gets to play on MyNoggin while I make dinner or do something away from the computer and my work.

He doesn't see it as "learning" because he's "playing" with his "friends" from Noggin. The best part is, he can't tell that I can see what he's doing and how he's learning with each game. He gets to play and have a good time without ever realizing he's doing something good for him or something that I want him to do. He really has a great time earning toys and prizes for his room on the site. He plays for at least a half hour a day, and it's a great way for me to get some work done.

I'm very impressed with the service, and for those who do not want to deal with automatic bank drafts, there are prepaid cards you can purchase at a variety of retail outlets. Parents can create an account for up to five children at once and get detailed information on their progress. I'm also very pleased with the service and recommend it to all parents of children aged 4 to 6 because it will help preserve some sanity.
