Myrtle Beach, situated on the shores of South Carolina, draws over 14 million visitors each year, consisting of people young, old and in between. The area boasts beautiful sea shores, luxurious resorts, beautiful golf courses set on rolling hills, a multitude of restaurants and a variety of retail shops. The beach consists of 60 miles of shell laced sands and gentle waves rolling onto the sand. When visiting this picturesque vacation destination, the following attractions are not to be missed.

Family Kingdom Amusement Water Park

The Family Kingdom Amusement Water Park sits on the beachfront of Myrtle Beach, featuring fun for people of all ages. This exciting theme park offers a huge water playground with a large array of water slides, shallow kiddie pools, water flume rides a huge 425-foot long lazy river and pretty waterfalls to play under. Additionally, there is a non-water amusement area which consists of a multitude of thrill rides, rides geared towards young children and family Rides. There is a ferris wheel, bumper cars, multiple roller coasters and a carousel.

Cherry Grove Pier

The Cherry Grove Pier, located in the heart of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is a popular attraction in the area. Built back in the early 1950s, this family owned pier has been owned by the same people ever since 1965 and continues to thrive in visitors. It features areas for fishing, an observation deck consisting of two levels, a a shop with gifts, bait and tackle. Cherry Grove Pier is famous for holding the world record of fishing for having been the destination of the catch of a 98 pound Tarpon and a 1,780 pound shark. The original pier in this location was destroyed by Hurricane Hugo back in 1989 and has since been rebuilt.

Downwind Sails Watersports

Myrtle beach offers a variety of water sports for vacationers. This includes the Downwind Sails Watersports. Located directly on the oceanfront strip, featured here are activities that include jet skiing, para sailing, kayaking, boat tours, boat rentals and catamaran tours. The costs start at $16 for a banana boat ride and can run up to about $65 for jet skiing and para sailing tours. Reservations are not required but are advised.

The Beachfront

Myrtle Beach's beachfront offers beautiful views of the ocean, while lounging on the beach and frolicking in the warm gentle waves. People of all ages frequent the beach, especially during the summer and spring months to relax and soak up the rays of the sun. There are multiple places that can be found to stay directly on the beach while visiting the area.
