If you haven't been to Myrtle Beach, SC you have missed out on one of the best places in the US to spend your vacation. Because of unemployment and high gas prices many have chosen to stay home or take a shorter vacation. Visiting Myrtle Beach will not only save you a substantial amount of money, you will be able to see and do more than if the economy were good.
Motels and condos are being rented for longer periods of time at discounted rates, or adding some extras such as tickets to water parks, free shuttle transportation to malls, restaurant coupons and many other free or discount items to get you to book your stay with them.
During your vacation in Myrtle Beach do not limit yourself to just that area. Somewhere along the Grand Strand there will be free music or other free or discount entertainment.
Along with the free music there will undoubtedly be somewhere close by that you can get a discounted tee shirt, hot dog, ice cream cone, or boiled peanuts.
You can visit Ripley's Aquarium, Brookgreen Gardens, The Carolina Oprey, go fishing, eat lunch, all at a discount rate if you shop around first. There are coupon books available just about everywhere full of discounts or free items for the kids. There is almost nowhere in the area where you will have to pay full price.
Directair offers discount rates on their airfare and is a great airline to fly to Myrtle Beach airport if you live on the east coast. We decided to move to the Grand Strand from PA and flew with them on New Years Eve. Despite the fact that it was a holiday, the rate was affordable and the experience with them was great.
While in the Myrtle Beach area there are so many places to visit you will not run out of things to do. Pawley's Island, Garden City, and Murrells Inlet are all close by and Surfside Beach has the Wild Water and Wheels waterpark and Hudson's flea market. Look for discount tickets in the coupon books for the waterpark or spend a day at Hudson's just browsing, two other ways to save you money on your vacation.
