If you're looking for a great place on the East Coast for a vacation this summer, look no further than Myrtle Beach South Carolina. This area is rich with tradition and history and is has been a favorite travel destination for over 50 years. My family and I have been going there for almost 20 years and have never failed to enjoy ourselves tremendously. There is something to do for everyone.

The Grand Strand has tons of hotels that will accommodate any size family or budget. If you're into camping they have several campsites to choose from, some of them right on the beach. You can check your favorite travel site for pricing and availability. Some of our favorite places to stay are The Reef, Ocean Reef Resort, & The Captain's Quarters. They are reasonably priced and have fine amenities for your enjoyment.

Myrtle Beach has some great family attractions including the popular Family Kingdom which is located in downtown right on the ocean. The kids will also enjoy Ripley's Aquarium. The man attraction is the shark tank you can walk right through as though you were in the tank itself. It is not only fun but educational for the kids. You can also pet the baby sting rays which is always a good time. The sting rays are very harmless and used to being handled so no worries it is very safe.

If it's the nightlife you're looking for then Myrtle Beach will not disappoint. This area has become a hot spot for live entertainment. They offer a wide variety of the best in music, dance, comedy, dinner shows, and celebrity concerts. Broadway at the Beach is one of the major hot spots which include, Planet Hollywood, House of Blues, and Hard Rock Café.

Myrtle Beach offers a fantastic variety of restaurants. You can choose from over 1800 full-service restaurants. This area is famous for Calabash seafood which is a local tradition. There more than enough choices to satisfy any craving while on vacation here. Be sure to check out the famed Restaurant Row section you will be glad you did. If you're into dinner and a show there are 2 places that are wonderful visits. The Dixie Stampede and Medieval Times are 2 of our favorite places to try. The food is excellent and the shows at both are very entertaining. They come highly recommended.

If its golf you're into there is no better place on the planet to visit than Myrtle Beach. It has been called the seaside golf capital of the world. There are more than 100 professional golf courses to choose from to challenge any skill level of golfer. Pawleys Plantation was voted one of America's top golf courses by Zagat, a leading guide that surveys golfers and American travelers. It was designed by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus.

As you can expect there are many options for activities in the water. Whether you prefer boating, fishing, surfing, scuba diving, or parasailing, Myrtle Beach has plenty to choose from if you want to get out onto the big blue sea. Some of the best places for ocean activities are Ocean Watersports, Second Avenue Pier, or Capt. Dicks Deep Sea Fishing & Water Sports.

If you like to shop while on vacation there is no shortage of shops, malls, and outlets that are available on or near the oceanfront. You will have plenty of options to empty that wallet while at Myrtle Beach. The Coastal Grand Mall has over 100 stores as well as restaurants and theatres for your pleasure. If your into bargains you can visit the Tanger Outlet Center. It has over 70 brand name outlet stores to choose from ranging from Aeropostle to Wilson's Leather Outlet.

Myrtle Beach is also convenient to get to as well. It is not a long drive from many major cities. You are only 6 hours from Atlanta, GA, 3 hours from Charlotte, NC, and 8 hours from Washington D.C. If you prefer to fly there are 6 major airlines offering flights to Myrtle Beach.

All in all you will not find a place with more variety of things to do and sights to see than at Myrtle Beach. I have been there more than 50 times in the last 18 years and will be returning many more times. It is our favorite place to get away from the grind. I am sure once you visit it will be yours too.
