Sometime in early 2008, MySpace users can expect to see a new gaming entertainment channel added to MySpace. MySpace's goal is to offer their users fun and more social interaction as they allow them to choose from award-winning multi-player games, which users will be allowed to add to their MySpace profiles. Once the user has added the multi-player games to their profile, they can invite their MySpace friends to interact with them in the game, and a chat window will be implemented into the games so that MySpace users can chat with their friends as they play. For those of you using MySpace to promote your products and/or services, this will be a wonderful way to get to know your potential customers/clients better.
I have yet to see an announcement or release specifying which games MySpace will make available to its users, but some of the multi-player games available from Oberon Media include Texas Hold 'em, Chess, Darts, Checkers, Pool and more. Whether any of those games will be among the choices is unknown at this time, but it should give MySpace users an idea of what to expect.
"We're very excited to be partnering with MySpace to provide the best social networking casual games experience to its growing audience. Our white label casual gaming solution is allowing us to create a customized games platform that delivers a great experience to MySpace users. We're looking forward to responding to users' needs and to involving the best game developers to create the greatest online entertainment experience. The opportunity to give MySpace users the chance to share the fun and socialize within this rapidly growing media segment is thrilling," Tal Kerret, co-founder and chairman of Oberon Media states in a news release.
Today MySpace has more than 200 million members and an average of over 100,000 signing up for new memberships on a daily basis. Among its millions of members are celebrities. Although MySpace is still considered the most popular social networking website, they have competitors such as Facebook, MyYearbook, MyDiggz and others. Therefore, in order to compete with their growing number of competitors, MySpace's upcoming gaming entertainment channel could be a part of those efforts.
Will you be one of the many MySpace users to enjoy the new gaming entertainment channel in early 2008?
