MySpace Application Games Mobsters and Mafia Wars - Differences and Tips

Alicia White
At first glance, the two popular MySpace mafia application games Mobsters and Mafia Wars seem very much alike. While there's nothing wrong with playing both Mobsters and Mafia Wars at the same time, if you would rather stick with one game, I'll list the main differences between the two games and throw in a few tips here and there.

My personal favorite is Mafia Wars. In Mafia Wars, you are able to promote faster as a Maniac, than if you chose the same type of player (Insomniac) in Mobsters. Even though both character types regenerate energy faster, new energy points come at you faster in Mafia Wars and you will be able to complete more jobs in a smaller amount of time.

Also, as you get higher up in rank, there seems to be more experience points between ranks in Mobsters as there are in Mafia wars.

In the Godfather section, reward points vary between both games with the money option. In Mafia Wars, I'm currently at level 15, and I'm only offered an extra $10,000. In Mobsters, at the same level, and for the same 10 reward points, you will be offered $150,000. Every time you promote, it goes up by $10,000, which makes more sense, since we generally go through more money as we promote.

For some reason, in Mafia War's fight option, there are more people to choose from with fewer family members. Of course, the less family members the player has, the easier it will be to kill him or her. You might have to wait a minute, and switch between tabs for these members to show up, but they will be there. Also, as long as there's still life left in the players, you will be able to attack them more than once. That's another reason why I've been able to promote faster in Mafia Wars.

In Mobsters, while you have the option to use the refresh button on the fight page, as soon as you attack a character, 9 time out of 10, that character will no longer be shown as an attack option. After you kill off the one or two users with few family members, you will be left with players with larger families. The refresh option won't bring about a fresh crew for a few minutes. The only option is to gain new family members yourself.

Mafia Wars has more job choices by far once you get up to level 15. At the same level in Mobsters, while new missions show up, you can only make up to $400,000. In Mafia Wars at the same level, with enough family members you could be making up to $4 million after wiretapping the cops just once!

One of the worst aspects of Mobsters, is that when you promote, you only get 3 new skill points instead of Mafia War's 5. It's only a difference of 2 points, but believe me, they make a huge difference after many promotions.

With these few but important differences in mind, I have to say that Mafia Wars is the best MySpace mafia game if you want to quickly gain rank and money. Do you already play and need more members? Feel free to leave your link in the comment section below.
